i personally like seeing competition. i like watching people adjust, watching the markets adjust, wathing the power shift. its really interesting. more competition is always better. it seperates the good businessmen from the bad. Brad will be more successful at this than many others just because of who he is. installing a fresh copy of Vbulletin has proven to be easy. making it a business is not.

How do I know if I am sucessful? $50k, $75k, $100k a month?

I bet there are only 2 boards doing over $50k a month in ad sales. GFY and Oprano.

No doubt my name is a drawing card, next weeks will be tough to try to differentiate ourselves from the crowd. Oprano has done a great job in its niche. Not a ton of posts, but 99% of them are worth reading.

you forgot Netpond...go count their ads, they are $5000-$7000 a month ahead of Oprano.

the yard stick of sucess today is the ability to squeeze blood out of turnip.
Ad revenues are harder and harder to get as the day goes by.

Oprano will be LUCKY if we bill $500,000 this year....when was the last time you paid for advertising?

and this is the trend of the industry today

success to me is achieving ones goals and being content. in business, success means turning a profit. i would say that in your case and the board, if you are able to get more eyes, increase your ability to market your programs, launch new products etc and it does not cost you anything, then it would be a tremendous success. money does not need to be made only be ad revenue.

I can see it now.. you would sell Oprano for $10k and charge the new owner $200k to continue to post on it.
