We have a certain amount of mandatory classes in our college, and I've failed SQL 3 years in a row. I've taken the exam 7 times. lol. :)
I got results from my last try, and I passed it with the minimum score.
The course was damn long, from september 1st to january 18th.. and I HATED it, that's why I didn't pass it before. I just couldn't care less.
heheheh :)
Woot!
(edit: forgot to say that it was my only mandatory class I haven't passed yet)

I'm so fucking happy, I didn't understand a word of the exam I just drew flowcharts, normalized some relations and hoped for the best. Woot woot. I'm sure the teacher felt bad for me, and let me pass since I've been trying to course so hard for years. :)

Now I've cleared college pretty much, I just need to add up my credits, and write a thesis and I should be done in about an year. :) :) :)

I learned a bit of sql though. I can "select" stuff from tables. :P

Degree Programme in Business Information Technology according to my schools homepage. It's not an university.. the school is called 'Helsinki business polytechnic' what ever that means.

So I don't know what it's us equivalent is. Quote from the school pages:

"The objective of the Degree Programme in Business Information Technology is to educate specialists, who have strong theoretical and practical skills to participate independently in the development and implementation of an organization's information technology system especially in the Software Development and the Software Business. The Degree Programme aims at developing interpersonal communication skills, a sense of self-initiative, and the ability to work and gather information independently."

I've written enough SQL for 2 lifetimes. It took me about an hour to learn the basics and about 6 months of using it every day to get really good with it. Like anything else, practice, practice, practice.

I know. But I couldn't be bothered to learn. I simply had 0 intrest.
I learned the basics of Java in a day or 2 because I was slightly intrested in it.

I also learned SQL in short period of time, but I *hated* the theory. Normalizing, relations charts and all that shit. I didn't have time to learn that. :)

If you're going to get into web programming, you really pretty much have to know the basics of database design and SQL now.

I'm surprised you liked Java if you cant stand SQL....Java's a lot tougher to grasp for most people.

SQL would likely be easier to pick up if you learned it on conjunction with something like PHP or ASP so you're learning it in an applied fashion instead of conceptual.
