Well I am finally moved into my new house, took over 6 months and now I am finding the things that need to be fixed like the cable outlit in my office : (

Well I finally got my internet up !!

I wonder how long it will take to unload the boxes.

Billy we are in the process of packing now....

Katie is going insane - she is wondering how I managed to collect so much junk.

We need to have a garage sale!

I packed shot glasses from 1989 !! And they were NOT vodka shot glasses !!

Moving is a *great* excuse to get rid of all that junk cluttering your house!
Just keep a couple of boxes in each room for "toss" stuff - fill 'em up and bring in more and don't look back.
Packing or unpacking, doesn't matter... it's like a challenge to see how many 'toss' boxes you can fill up and give to charity. (Throwing yard sales is good but you tend to keep the stuff that doesn't sell.)

I HATE moving. I thought I'd be real clever this time and just buy all new stuff when I got here. Except I couldn't find decent prices anywhere that would deliver here so I ended up buying in Atlanta and having everything stored there and the movers had to move it.

I deal leave almost an entire 4BR home worth of furniture, appliances and other household items for Goodwill from the last move - it looked good on my taxes. :P

We need PICTURES, Billy!!!

Serge painting has a nice place in the condo in New Orleans.

We have 4 piles going.

1) Stuff going to Condo
2) Stuff going to Tampa
3) Stuff going in garbage
4) Stuff going to garage sale

Vick - we the plantation up for sale with 5 acres. I am going to keep the barn and 40 acres as an investment. It is expensive to keep up with this much land and house , especially since I will not be using it much.

I will have a New Orleans place though, got a condo on 337 Barone, downtown, 3 blocks from the French Quarter.

Problem is moving from a stuffed 4,000 sq ft house to a 1,800 sq ft condo.

Vick

Carrie
01-20-2004, 12:13 PM
I moved a year and a half ago and I still don't have everything unpacked, either. Boxes piled up in the shed, in the workshop, in the bottom of the closet... going from a bigger house to a smaller one makes it worse!

But I figure if I haven't needed it and gone hunting for it by now, it must not be so important that it needs to be unpacked, lol :)

Sharpie
01-20-2004, 12:25 PM
About 5 years ago, when I moved from a split level with 30 yrs of "stuff" that I kept moving around - I moved what I knew I needed & left the rest behind. If I didn't need it in the 30 days before I had to give possession of the old house - I decided I didn't really need it. It went! Yeh - the Sr. Cords, wedding dress & everything..... I can no longer produce my 1960 yearbook (that I hadn't looked at in 30 years) There is a time to 'move on and leave the past behind.

That slimming down allowed me to move twice in a week. I brought the stuff I needed from Indiana to Naples, Where I stayed one night, as I packed all the stuff and furniture already in Florida & moved up to Cape Coral. Within 3 days, I was unpacked, and looked like I had been liveing there forever. Now I can concentrate on landscaping and adding on.

Dave's advise for when I am traveling and always worrying I forgot something is "They make more" - that goes for moving too.
