These are our only options?

What about give to Mike AI, so he can pay his tax bill in April?

index powered annuities..stock market gains without the risk.
I have last year's SEP IRA contributions in guaranteed 4% return Oppenheimer Fund annuities that are index powered. I get all the benefits of stock market with none of the risk. Last year's contributions are up 20%.

You could probably put it in a CD, or moneymarket. I would not put it into anything that was riskier then that. One person you never want to owe money to is Uncle Sam!

Ani D
01-16-2004, 12:31 PM
Btw, don't you guys send in your estimated tax payments quarterly? Uncle Sam frowns upon waiting 'til April 15th.

According to bankrate.com the best 2 month cd in the country is 1.44%, you do the math.

Edit : I love bankrate.com

Buy a 7-11 franchise and put in a row of slot machines

one of my former business partners makes almost as much from the slots in his convenience store than he does selling merchandise in the store....and he's only got 8 machines....

There is a shocking lack of financial/accounting knowledge in this industry. I think I should start charging for my services. FinancialAdviceforPornographers.com

Having $1million not working for you is just INSANE. With rock bottom CD rate, you could earn $14,000 in the next two months. BradShaw you need a better financial advisor.

I would invest in the IPO of MasterP Inc. It's about to go public and the demand is building every day. Let's see $1,000,000 x 4 months x master p= $1,745,824

74% not bad.

I used bankrate.com also... :salute:

Can you explain that? The best rate I found for a Jumbo CD was for five years at 3.66%. That would be $36,600 per year in interest... how do you figure $14k in two months?

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just curious... :)

Ah, okay BradShaw. Well then, pay your taxes now. But seriously, anyone looking for good investments should check out index powered annuities. They are especially good for future use as monthly income. That's what I'm trying to get set up. I'll feel secure when my investments are earning me a guaranteed monthly income equal to my monthly cost of living. It's not that far off for me.

Here's what the Barenaked Ladies would do

If I had a million dollars
Well, I'd buy you a house
And if I had a million dollars
Buy you furniture for your house

And if I had a million dollars
Well I'd buy you a K Car
And if I had a million dollars,
I'd buy your love
If I had a million dollars

If I had a million dollars
there somewhere
You know, we could just go there and hang out
Where there'd be foods all layed out for us,
With little pre-wrapped sausages and things
Mmmm
don't have pre-wrapped bacon
Can you blame 'em

If I had a million dollars
Well I'd buy you a fur coat
If I had a million dollars
Well I'd buy an exotic pet

If I had a million dollars
Well, I'd buy John Meric's remains
And if I had a million dollars
I'd buy your love

If I had a million dollars

But we WOULD eat Kraft Dinner
And buy really expensive ketchups with it
Dijon Ketchup!
Mmm!

If I had a million dollars
Well I'd buy you a green dress
And If I had a million dollars
Well I'd buy you some art
If I had a million dollars
Well I'd buy you a monkey
If I had a million dollars
I'd buy your love

If I had a million dollars
I'd be rich

$1,000,000? Hmm... since you live in Dallas I would suggest buying one (or two depending on prices) warehouse spaces in or near Deep Ellum. Refinance them with an incredible rate (I'm assuming you are A-1) so you get your money back for uncle sam. Hire cheap labor to spruce them up a bit, wire them up and make them trendy commercial rentals for tech companies or lease them as bars and nightclub spaces.

I've always played it safe and stuck whatever wasn't needed short term into a MM. I love playing with other people's money and bought most of my furniture and electronics when I moved on those 0/0 plans and just put the $$ into a MM until a month before it was due. I didn't make loads of cash with it, but I didn't lose any either. :)

I Like your way of thinking!!

TE - I waited until most of the serious stuff was out

Brad - if I were you I'd probably hire me to help plan your Walt Disney World vacation so you aren't going at the most crowded time of the year

Seriously I saw the dates you posted on GFY and that is a terrible time to go, if you can move up or back a week it will be much better as you are going over the President's Day Holiday which is one of the most crowded times of the year. It will be packed and shoulder to shoulder

The best market around right now is real estate. 3 months isn't much time to turn it around, but you can throw it into a bunch of properties, build up a massive rent roll, then take out 80-90% in equity come April, and get a night job to cover the rest.

2. Fully fund all your tax deductible IRA accounts. (both for 2003 & 2004)
3. Invest in real Estate....
