It's 16F here with the wind chill and I can hear chunks of ice falling off of my house. Don't talk to me about 41! You're in a heat wave! :)

You sound like me.. 22F in Charlotte this morning - with the wind chill it felt like 13F.. walking the dog in shorts, shirt, leather jacket and sandals. Still have ice on the deck from the little bit of snow we got yesterday. Its freaking cold out there...

It got down in the 20's here last night. It was interesting because it was snowing just on the tops of the mountains. We had some dusting, but further up my mountain they had about 4 times more (1/2 mile drive).

Went to Wig's while it was snowing here and nothing - 10 miles away (even closer as the crow flies). Here's a picture I took from his house. My mountain's on the far right, but you can't see it from this vantage point:

less than a mortgage.:matey:
I've been looking into it, €250,000 mortgage for 15 years has 80,000€ just in intrest. Fuck that. I'd rather pick up my steam and make the damn money and then buy it.. although I want to move out now..

decisions decisions..

So just pay off the mortgage faster than 15 years. With each payment, send in a second check that says "for principal only" or "to be put towards principal" on it.
It only costs that much in interest if you let it go that long making the minimum payments. Get out now, get your house, pick up steam and put anything extra towards paying that loan down.

PS - we're up to 30 now! That's 23 with the wind chill... wooHOO!

It all depends on what and how much you buy. IIRC, Wig paid less than $10K an acre 3+ years ago but on the flip side, there are lots in my subdivision going for $35-50K for .5 an acre. Wig has done a LOT of improvement on his land, including that view that many trees lost their lives over. :awinky:

I think the lowest I've seen large lots (100+ acres) for lately is around $8-10K an acre but you might have just one or two building sites with that. There are still some GREAT deals to be had, especially as fast as we're growing.

Tax sales are a great place to pick things up, but there are about 10 guys that go there every month and you have to bid against them. They're all basically good old boy millionaires who wear old overalls and drive 10+ year old cars but have lived here forever and have made quite a tidy sum buying and selling land. :okthumb:
