Rejecting potential models

Hello, I've been lurking and meaning to post. Here's something I'm pondering:

I'm working on a multi-person "alt porn" pay site. I have an open casting call on the site as it is now, and I have mostly been contacted by sexy people who sound really great to work with. Recently, I got a model application from a guy maybe in his 40s, not conventionally attractive, and just not the look I'm going for. (Especially for solo/softcore pics.) I feel bad saying no to someone because they don't fit my beauty standards, but I need to give this guy an answer.

How do others reject potential models? I'd love to see a sample form letter if anyone has a standard reply.

Remember Furry, just because they don't fit *your* beauty standards doesn't mean they won't fit someone else's. Hell, take a look at all the guys on GFY who think one pubic hair is too many and imagine how they'd react to your pics. :)

I say give the guy a chance at least. You never know, he might turn out to be great to work with and/or have a penis that would put Ron to shame. If nothing else, there are lots of webmasters over on LadyLynx.com who would die to have good photos of normal-looking men in softcore or solo action to go on their for-women sites. You can always shoot content of this guy and sell it rather than using it on your own site. Do one shoot, see how well it sells, and then make a decision about asking him back.

Just because someone is willing to shoot doesn't mean you've gotta shoot 'em.

If someone shows up for a cattle call or whatever that you do not wanna shoot for any reason whatsoever, just politely and professionally tell them "you're not what we're looking for at the current time".

Sure, there's a market for just about anything. But for my purposes at least, we do not spend the time or money to shoot anything that we do not personally know how to market. You dont have to hurt anyone's feelings or be harsh, but part of being a professional is handling rejection...on both sides.

Like I said, there's a market for everything...

But I've learned it is best to focus on producing products for niches that you understand or you wont get it right. There's a market for transvestites too, but just because one answers an ad looking to shoot doesn't mean you should shoot it unless you have some clue about what to do with it.

which is why carrie suggested to go to the place where the potential clients are rather than putting up the expense without knowing.

in this particular situation, its not a niche interest like a tranny we are talking about, its a 40 year old male who isn't ken-doll attractive ... the potential audience for this photo is NOT a niche, its 50% of surfers on the internet.
