ATLANTA, December 29, 2003 - NationalNet, Inc., a leading provider of Web Hosting services to the Adult Internet, today announced the acquisition of Mach10 Hosting of Austin, Texas. The terms of the sale were not disclosed.

"Mach10 Hosting is a well known company among the Adult webmasters and has always been a customer-focused, high-end web host…one that we felt would compliment the NationalNet culture", said Bill VanVorst, Executive Vice President for NationalNet. “Sean Hicks has spent the past five years providing clients top-notch hosting and NationalNet just wants to continue what he has started”.

"NationalNet is the logical choice for my customers because they can provide the superior level of customer service that people have come to expect from my staff", said Sean Hicks, President of Mach10 Hosting, Inc. "While enhancing customer support, this merger also provides to my customers redundant network connectivity, and a portfolio of diverse support services unparalleled in the web hosting industry.”

This acquisition is the final of several in 2003 as NationalNet continues to expand its presence in the market. The company is actively seeking all sizes and types of web hosting companies to partner with in the coming year. "In my opinion, the 2004 year will see more consolidation in our industry than in any year past", said Tony Morgan, President of NationalNet, "and we want to be poised to aggressively take advantage of these opportunities as they arise."

Yea they sure did and all Mach10 customers only received notice the day before servers were going down. I think they should have at least gave us options or some type of notice instead of writing an email 24 hours prior to flying our servers to Atlanta.

I guess now we’ll see how good NatNet really is and how long my sites will be down or how many set-up problems I’ll end up having.

Happy New Year.

Dianna,

I talked to Sean a couple hours before the notice was sent out.
He never mentioned it to me either and I was with Mach10 for
5+yrs .... I was their 2nd customer !

Sean would never hide anything from his customers, there is such
a thing as agreements and disclosure. I don't feel upset Sean didn't
tell me and neither should you ...... business is business.

(IMHO) Mach10 was the best of the best and so is Natnet.

I'm sure Tony, Vooman and crew will do an excellent job making
a smooth and painless move for all of us.

I agree that business is business and Mach10's team was truly wonderful. I look forward to 24/7 support. My main bitch is that they could have told us and gave us some more notice.

Like I said, let's see how fast and effective the company is. That's what will keep my business.

NatNet and Mach10 can both blow me.

What an unprofessional way to deal with an important move.

We are currently down and have been for many hours!

Congratulation to Mach10 on screwing us, and to NatNet for loosing a moderatly big customer

You can both go fuck yourselves, what a bunch of fucking clown!

I cant believe such disrespect from you Sean.

I had a server stashed at mach 10.... honestly, I'm pretty happy it's going to Nat Net. Tony doesn't fuck around at all when it comes to service. I'll sleep alot better in the nights to come with it being in his hands. Congrats!

I never had a problem with mach10. Sean and Terry have always gone above and beyond the call of duty for me. I can honestly say i will miss doing biz with them.

I also am happy that National-Net is the company that bought them. I know Tony has always been about service.

This downtime is killing me though.
I have been told by just about all of my mainstream customers (I host my mainstream design clients) that I will be losing their business. I, of course, am trying to do anything and everything that I an right now to prevent that. They are VERY upset that I gave less than 24 hours notice of downtime.

One of my larger clients produces and sells sports suppliments. Today, the Bush admin banned Ephedra, which is contained in one of their best selling products. They have doubled the prices and are getting phone orders for 100-200 bottles at a time. They are VERY upset they are losing out on all internet and email sales. This is EASILY costing them THOUSAND's of dollars... and in turn - has caused me to lose their business.

Sharky and Hooper,

I hear you guys loud and clear and totally understand where you are coming from. Based on our past relationship I hope that even as mad as you are, you know that Terry and the NatNet engineers are doing everything they can to get things up and running as soon as possible. I think we can all agree a move of this size is not an easy task and no matter how much planning our engineering teams did, there are bound to be a few problems. Please be patient and rest assured that you will be taken care of as you always have in the past.

DrGuile,

I understand you frustration on a personal level but because of the structure of the deal between NatNet and Mach10, I was not at liberty to discuss the details prior to the move. I can assure you that you were on the "list" and Tony made several attempts to contact you guys.

It has always been Mach10's approach that if you are not happy you need to go where you will be. I know that is the same approach Tony and NatNet take. It would be a shame to let a miscommunication ruin 4 years of a great business and personal relationship.

still down... i know personally ive lost 500 bucks min since midnight lastnight.. and thats just with one sponsor.. that small money compared to these big site/program owners that are currently STILL down... i can say personally, i have over 10 servers that ive had to move personally, on the fly.. and it took me around 2hrs and that was including travel time.. so 12hrs and counting now for an entire crew of tech people with 200 servers is actually pretty bad.. I just hope you guys overcome the problem asap, and shell out some of that cash to the guys who were hit the hardest.. ie, drg, hoop, and everyone else who has been silent but down.

Ouch.
Sean, I understand not being able to disclose the details, but between the two of you (you and Tony); you surely could have given the clients more than 24hrs notice. What's the harm of waiting an extra 24hrs (48hrs total) if it's going to keep the customers happy and give them an opportunity to email *their* clients or quickly switch DNS to a backup server so things wouldn't appear to be down?

For you guys that are down right now, hope they get it fixed quickly.

That's beyond BS

This is a deal YOU made. You knew very well what a move to Atlanta, to a new company with only 12 hours notice, with a minimum of 6-12 hours of downtime would do to a company like us.

But you accepted this deal. You took the money and screwed us over.

Its a hard one to swallow for me, coming from you, but fuck me, lesson learned.

...also, im still waiting on any kind of contact from you to talk this over but eh...

Hey Everybody....

Just a quick update. I have not had time to read this thread so forgive me if I am ignoring anyone...I will come back and catch up when we are done with getting these servers back online.

We have all been feverishly working to get things back up and running smoothly. As it always goes we have experienced a slight glitch that the Network Engineers and System Administrators are working through as we speak. I can't say exactly when it will be done, but it should not be much longer now. We are absolutely on the downhill side of this move.

More later...

Thanks for your understanding.

the problem is T, I dont think.. actually I KNOW, nobody IS understanding!
Your crew didnt give anybody notice, you didn't mirror servers, you didn't keep people in the loop.. I know it can be a tricky business when running a large operation, but atleast plan the shit out before doing it..

still down... i know personally ive lost 500 bucks min since midnight lastnight.. and thats just with one sponsor.. that small money compared to these big site/program owners that are currently STILL down... i can say personally, i have over 10 servers that ive had to move personally, on the fly.. and it took me around 2hrs and that was including travel time.. so 12hrs and counting now for an entire crew of tech people with 200 servers is actually pretty bad.. I just hope you guys overcome the problem asap, and shell out some of that cash to the guys who were hit the hardest.. ie, drg, hoop, and everyone else who has been silent but down.

j
I can vouch for Dirty J's comment personally.

Big-S: "I understand you frustration on a personal level but because of the structure of the deal between NatNet and Mach10, I was not at liberty to discuss the details prior to the move."

Sorry bro, but that is bullshit! Who's going to compensate for lost revenue? Who's going to compensate my webmasters? Contrary to what we have been told, we NEVER received any notification on this. Others have reported the same. Beyond pissed.
Hold on a second, when did your sites go down Timbo?

Why haven't we been told about it?
Talked to Nick.

You guys are my account so the responsibility falls to me.[/b][/quote]
No worries TE.

We'll work it out :)

Another update:

The network is up and stable.
About 80% of the servers are up and stable.
The remaining 20% are being dealt with by our System Administrators to get them back running smoothly.

Sorry to be so short...more updates will follow.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

we're still down, and what you have to understand is that once our server a online we wont be back up.

Our stuff cannot just be up and moved to different IPs and all.

It MIGHT have been possible with WEEKS notice.

But I repeat, this is BEYOND BULLSHIT.

And the fucking icing on the cake, is you guys thought it was a good idea to do this the day before new year.

I mean, wow, how to impress new customers....

dumbass...

Double ouch.
Having someone switch your IPs when you run your own nameservers is *not* fun. After you find out what the new IPs are there's a minimum of 24hrs downtime as the faster ISPs pick up the DNS change, but that can go 72hrs or more depending on how long it takes to propogate through the different ISPs all over the world.
And if you hard link using IPs rather than FQDNs - triple ouch. All that shit has to be changed too. Especially bad for mailers directing to IP addies.

I know it can be a tricky business when running a large operation, but atleast plan the shit out before doing it..

I think we're back up and all seems ok so far.

I agree that the way it was handled sucked. Especially the day before a holiday. This is the last thing we should worry about.

Just got this in my mailbox:

Attention Adult Paymaster Affiliates!

In the morning hours somewhere around 2 a.m. EST, our servers were moved offline. Our former host, Mach10 Hosting was sold to National Net Hosting a few days ago.

A move that should have been smooth and without major downtime failed miserably. Mach10 claimed that they had delivered e-mail notifications only 24 hours prior to this taking place. The staff at APM received NOTHING! Other Mach10 customers have claimed the same. Regardless, we should have received proper notification. 24 hours is simply unacceptable.

As you are reading this, our servers are back online and fully functional.

We apologize for any inconvenience to our webmasters and have decided to compensate each account by taking an average of each accounts daily sign ups and adding those sign ups to the payperiod Dec. 16 - 31.

Again we are truly sorry about this unfortunate event. DO NOT hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have.

Probably gonna be easier than you think to get back up, Mach 10's namespace/IP block was portable, as I was told there'd be no need to re-ip everything because of this and the move would be quick.

Hmmm...

for future ref and for any other hosting companies that might have to make moves etc....

It would have been prudent for both Mach10 and Natnet to ensure that their clients were contacted prior to the move both in order to ensure that the clients were aware of the move and to get client input for "special" situations such as folks doing their own dns etc... The clients are probably the most important part of the equation when attempting to make a move of this magnitude.

If clients had been contacted, if clients had been aware, if clients had felt as if they were being treated as "part of the process", it would have ensured client "buy in" on the move and would have protected customer relations.

Since this one is done, there is nothing to do except look at what was done, what could have been done differently, etc and try to learn from it, but other companies out there that might be contemplating this kind of move can certainly learn a thing or two....

Adult Paymaster contacted me and told me they were going to pay me for the downtime. I polityely declined their offer and responded with "It's not your fault, so why should you pay for it."

Timbo then proceeded to strong arm me into taking their money!!! The adult paymaster crew is one of the most stand up companies around and I hope SweetT takes the same approach as they did.

Smells like a contract or lease somewhere was expiring on 12/31, and this deal didn't get done til last minute and created a scramble.

But I'm just guessing.... I've been there, so I feel for all involved and given the players involved am sure everyone will work it out.

SweetT gets nothing but props from me... :wnw:

I did mention to them in the past that I had a price because heck, everything has a price... and if I would ever sell my hosting operation it would have to be to a leader in the business because I love my customers. However, since my sale of SinTalk during the 4th quarter this year I am decidedly committed to multiplying the size of SinHost. I've been looking around for acquisitions myself... I guess I need to look harder if I want to keep up with the Jones'! I've been wanting to make an acquisition all year but I just haven't found the right opportunity yet. It would be easier if people were knocking on my door...

One thing is for sure, it might be hard to outbid NatNet! LOL

:purpdance:

Happy New Years Everyone! Sorry to hear about the moving problems. Alas, I believe NatNet is superior to most hosts and it's our hope that everything works out for all involved.

Cheers,

Brad

I guess this is a great lesson.. for anyone who hosts with a smaller indepentdent hosting company.. go ahead and switch to Nat Net now... to avoid this happening to you in the future.. and tell Tony that Greg sent you... thats G.R.E.G.. only one G.. at the end..
