due to the elevations of 13,000 feet,
we ahve to bring my father along...
he swap 2000 yards dash yesterday, despite his 78 years old and he is in the best physical shape among all of us
(Brad, notice, no personal trainers for him ;-)
and we NEED somebody to take care of us...just in case

Yep Serge,

I have done alot of studying on Costa Rica. Lots of Americans and Canadians down there.

Cost of living is very nice. Houses with pools, maids, etc can be very reasonable. Just have to decide on what ocean part to live :)

I sure love fishing and was thinking of mabey opening a bar and restaurant down there if I go sometime..

I bookmarked it and it's now my favorite site!

I have expereince with Globus and Trfalgar,
BOTH are equally good and practically take care of you A to Z,
giving you worry free vacation, all you have to do is to have the pulse, they take care of the rest....

we are THINKING about going to Antarctica next January....

He answered:

Funny one Serge :)

unless I was 60-70 or so I just don't think I could quit working entirely, you know.

It would be a pleasure to serve drinks by the ocean!!

My wife and I have been giving serious talk on the vacation topic.. never thought much about a tour but I rather like the idea. Crappy thing about going to a new place is you never really know where to go. You arrive in some wonderful new place and you stress yourself out trying to find something interesting to do..

I just clicked on the Antarctica tour.. sticker shock! haha.. then I realized how long the trip was.. two weeks and up.. cool. hehe..

this si what I do...
I ALWAYS got "organased" for the first time.
If I like it, I come back on my own, like I do with UK, France, Italy, etc...
I'd never go to Turkey on my own, though...too many Russians on the South
;-)))

Tours DO give you nice intro and ALWAYS get a Fodor with you for your free time to see more than tour shows.

Probably, before we go to Antarctica, we'll visit Brazil Argentina and Chilie first...

as for sticker shock....
try pricing the same destinations with your own air, your own hotels, car rentals, etc...and even without food you gonna come up 50% MORE, at least!

Those tour companies do not rent shacks, and due to massive buying power they get 50-70% discounts, where you and me would pay retail...

It would be cool to have a webmaster retirement community in Costa Rica.... It is an interesting idea of living outside the US to benefit from cheaper cost of living and such. Especially some place beautiful, with good fishing.

My only problem would be missing family and friends...

BUT if you bring bunches of them with you... you solve that problem!

Antartica rules. Look at the government structure and the legal system. The cockholstery that could be done from here would rival anything that has ever been done. Anyone want to set up a high speed network from the south pole? Sure it's a little cold but I'm sure the skiing is great.
