i think all the pissers have lost the "fire" that they had inside and all the newbies are either too afraid that they might invoke the wrath of someone like yourself serge or they dont know the value of some bad pr.

Dying or maturing industry?

Like Mike said.. whats there to piss about?

Everyone is feeling the same 'heat', and it's evident that everyone has informally agreed, that the 'big dick' displays of shows past are not effective nor do they have an ROI worth persuing.... hence a limit on the 'parties' being thrown...

Maybe the industry finally IS maturing, as ulfie said... and it's time...

The one thing I've noticed is the newer young crowd attending conventions now. There has been quite a turnaround of our marketing webmasters, many of whom now seem to only be in this industry to party at the various conventions.

We all used to be there... in varying degress. I myself have toned it down considerably in the past couple of years, focusing more on business at shows.

Though ARS has always taken the low-key approach I'm glad we're the ones around with the continuing tradition of low-key business effective parties, both the Gameworks party in the past and the newer Webmaster Poker Tour (2nd incarnation in Vegas) are great opportunities to talk to webmasters without 150 decibels of dance music kicking in your ear.

And Old Fold, I feel like I missed out on the tradition last year, I'll have to join you and the Gravel Voice at the door along with our new blood John V :)

that's what's killing this more than visa...there will always be alternative billing solutions - where there's a demand...a supply will be provided. It's the idiots slinging galleries for 50 bucks a day so they can brag they sell porn and sponsors dealing with razor thin margins to keep those puppies happy that are flushing it all down the toilet...

free hosted galleries, free hosting, free content, free blah blah blah - free this, free that...

kill all of them...disembowel them publicly at the convention and I consider it worth attending.

In 2004 we will see more sponsors not letting every moron signup to push their sites - this should halt many of the newbies, which is yet to enter the industry. Also since margins are getting razor thin, then people with bad traffic will need to find new places to send it. And with legal and processing issues also, then we will be less one year from now.

Maybe we should make a "what do you predict for 2004" thread - naahh, better wait until after Internext

agreed.

there's a certain sponsor currently who must be having a competition with a few other programs to see who can give the most free pics to webmasters ... it looks like around 30 new galleries every week are being added ... that adds up to several hundred if not more pics ...

why give away so much of what you are trying to sell?

why are there still companies giving away content at all, let alone in such a huge quantity and then expecting someone to pay $30 a month for it plus a bit more?!

i don't see the point currently in investing a heap of money or time into an industry where the profit margins are becoming less than they are in most industries - when the reality is most of us got into this biz for the money anyway, not because we are proud that we sell smutty sex to desperate wankers ...

although i still have porn paysites and will until visa hammers the final nail, i've done a full turn about and am back to doing what I started with 6 years ago, quality online magazines with a reasonable monthly rate - and not 'porn'. no more $30 40 or 50 a month sites, no more $30+ payouts to webmasters etc ... someone else can spend the money, and i'll watch & learn from their mistakes, because guaranteed EVERYBODY IS MAKING THEM RIGHT NOW BECAUSE NOBODY KNOWS DICK ABOUT DICK NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY!!!!

The sooner boards like gfy with 'beer money' webmasters go bye bye, the sooner the biz can get on with fixing itself ... but until that happens, sit back with some popcorn & prepare to be amazed at how moronic & amusing some people will behave as their future, livelihood, dreams & egos come crashing before their eyes!!!!!!

*evil laugh*

well.....this is where the "Jewish History experience" comes handy...

after Romans conquered the Jerusalem and destroyed the Temple,
the Jewish scientists and Theologists went to Jaffa and for generations they preserved the culture and religion...
something similar happened in Greece after the Turkish occupation.

Let's hope we preserve Oprano as a "think tank" to make life easier for future generations...

Mr. Oprano

I've been reading this board for the last week and I've been to others too. I noticed the last 3 days more and more webmasters talking about no sales. I see the bottom coming near.

What if I told you that I can help make you and your crew here to get back(or never left) on top? I'm shaking just typing this to you because this is my one shot to present you something I know can make money and I don't want to fuck up. I've been around the boards out there and it seems I can't trust any one. The stuff I grew up in and saw made me very street smart. I see that here, so I know your guys are real players. I turn 30 years old in 12 days.I'm not getting any younger. Everyone here at this board impressed me. The only reason I've held back is always worried about getting my ideas taken. I think there's alot like me out there that see things that others can't but never go thur with the process of doing biz. All I want is to be able to work with no distractions and not having to worry about next months rent or shit like that. And of course a little piece of the pie. There is enough money to be made for everyone for a long time. It just takes the commitment of everyone involved to do what they say they are going to do.

Serge, I am for real and I saw your post where you said you don't have a plan B and hard for you to even get up in the mourning to go make money. I know I could get you that desire again to make mad cash.I've been doing research every waking hour i've had for the last 45 days and I know the internet world is going to have a shake-up and the ones left will reap the awards.

We'll I got thur that o/k. let's see what's next. Balls in your court.

P, my problem is little bit different...having VERY modest desires and a nest egg I can't outlive even if my desires increase,
is a LOUSY motivator to make a mad cash and I hope you not talking about getting me broke to get that desire
;-)))

Jokes aside,
if you have a "magic formula" you wanna share with Opranaughts-
I am much appriociated in advance,
if you beleive you sharing your idea will hurt you,
like it did MANY innovators before you-
keep it under your sleeve and think of yourself and your family first...

from my experience, appreciation of the people generally 1 feet long, even though at Oprano it few feet above the average.

now you have food for YOUR thoughts,

The richest guys in this industry make a living from lurking on boards and seeing ideas like the one you're about to summarize, and putting their staff to work launching it before you can even *think* about getting it off of the ground.

I guarantee you, if you mention your idea, someone else will have it live in a month. And you'll have lost the game.

Thanks for your concern. I already have my little piece started. What I'm going to say wiull take 6-8 take at least 6-7 people. Plus you have to have some clout to make it work. I think Serge fits that term well. If we do this and work together , we'll make it big.

ok, a little background on me. I was in the online casino industry for 4 years. I know a lot of shit when it come that. Laws , who's who, and how it works. I've been playing texas hold'em for 11 years now. I will challenge anyone one in this industry to a game of No Limit Hold'Em or 7-Card Stud. I've played so much and learn enough to last me a lifetime. I've been in the adult indusry for 6 months. I see it falling down face first. But we have the master plan.

When Serge comes on the board we talk and you can ask any questions. I already have the domain names we need to make it. So I hope others do copy because it will just make us bigger. :salute:

Networks Betting Poker Is Big Draw

Thanks to ESPN and The Travel Channel, whose ratings grew with the help of poker tournaments telecast this summer, TV may have a new programming genre to play with—and buyers like the odds.

Following ESPN's airing of The World Series (news - web sites) of Poker and Travel Channel's World Poker Tour, Bravo, Game Show Network and NBC have bought into the idea. In addition, a new network, Casino and Gaming Television, is set to launch in the third quarter.

NBC is teaming with The Travel Channel to bring The Travel Channel World Poker Tour Battle of Champions to TV on Feb. 1, prior to the Super Bowl kick-off. "This could be an indication of whether [casino gaming] has broad-based appeal," said Ray Dundas, svp, group director of broadcast at Interpublic Group's Initiative Media in New York. Added Jon Miller, NBC svp of sports programming, "We have been watching the poker phenomenon, and it seems to be gaining momentum."

Bravo's series, Celebrity Poker Showdown, debuts tomorrow with Ben Affleck (news), Don Cheadle (news) and Martin Sheen (news) as players. Also, Game Show Network plans a new series for spring called The World Series of Blackjack.

Consumers' interest in gambling has increased due to the proliferation of casinos across the U.S. According to a summer survey of 600 TV viewers by SmithGeiger on behalf of Casino and Gaming Television, 67 percent of respondents said they would watch a network devoted to card sports.

Because this industry is dead. You got broaden your mind when it comes to "Adult Entertainment" It covers many areas. The reason I know it will work is it will take other people to get a month to figure it out. Or they will rush it and put something half-ass out. What I invision couls be done in 6-7 days. Plus I know how to play poker and I know alot of people who think they can play poker. No matter who's out with what first, last, middle or never, I'll be a part of it someway. So far i hope Serge and Gonzo takes a look at this. If anyone else want to be a part of it, speak up and tell me what you can do. I know there will be some smart-ass comments at first. But if you want to be a part of something that will last and make you a lot of coin then talk to me. I've seen what has happen over at GFY and I'm just tired of all the kids stuff. Let's work together to make a shitload of money. :headwall:

Well lets see, Sparky.... ;-)))

I don't have your knowledge of online gaming , but my best friend was a founder of one of the earliest online casinos.

From what I gather , making book in North America and accepting bets from anyone in the US or Canada is not recommended

unless
a.) you like having your door kicked in at 6am
b.) you want a stripey suntan
c.) enjoy porridge

;-)))

You can host a community of like minded gentlemen and ladies ,in order to allow them to play poker....but its been done.Check the number of hands dealt at paradisepoker.com

I suspect Serge would have absolutely nothing to do with gambling.

Actually its not a suspicion, I have asked him! ;-)))

He told me to "Go forth and multiply" and recommended I did not get involved.

lol, I feel a lkot better now. When you tell someone your in porn for the first time , how they they react? and what are they thinking? Now I ask you, when i mention Poker, what comes to your mind? of course gambling. I lived in the Caribbean for 2 years I had to sit thur at least 5-6 hours a day with lawyers going over word by word on any biz. move. That's worst then getting your teeth pulled.

I'm just a new guy looking from the outside. I see alot of people worst off then they were 2 months ago. i just made a comment. I came out with this idea so other people who are not as lucky as you, have a chance to last longer in the industry. Top 5%(you) will always be here. The other 95% will be hurting. But this is just my opinion. I know it carries no weight in here.

You want something from us , we don't want a thing from you.

I also know you came here asking us WITHOUT doing any research on us.

Therefore I doubt your idea is any good because you have exhibited that you DO NOT research.

In fact , it makes me suspect you are a moron. :)

My background....

I am a traffic whore.

Back in the day I was paid several million dollars by adult companies for my traffic.

At the moment Rx , mortgages , generic drugs etc etc will probably pay me another million in 2004 for my traffic.

If adult/porn dies , frankly I don't give a flying fuck....someone ALWAYS wants traffic for something,........

someone like ......................you :)

If serge was going to do anything for you which needed traffic ,one of the first people he would approach , is me :)

You'd know that if you did research.Which you don't.Therefore it is logical that your world shaking new project is also poorly researched.

and as for cj , I believe she may have a little knowledge of casinos. ;-)))

So either piss or get off the pot :)

Fair enough, I came here to propose an idea to Serge. I knew he has all the tools to get the job done. The only research I needed was to see what group of people can take over something if they had the chance. I never once questioned who you were. I know everyone here are players to the game.. That why I came here first. With the knowledge you guys know and what I can give to make it really work. I was just waiting to see if serge was going to be atround tonight. when i see he's around I'll say it out in the open and as soon as he say no,I'll leave. this made me chuckle too ... glad to see my bluff worked but i don't know shit and have been playing around for months now!!! whole different ball game to porn but the webmasters appreciate the level of assistance & promo tools i'm used to giving adult webmasters and that seems to be working.

to be honest though, its all too hard for me - i don't find it very interesting so no motivation to learn. i can see myself enjoying webmaster marketing bits but the rest bores me to tears!!!

masterp, i'm sure your idea is good but telling someone they are stupid if they don't join you in your venture isn't the best way to get support ... stop patronizing everyone & assuming your idea is better than any of the 100's we all have sitting on our desks waiting for time & attention. If you want to do business with someone, start by explaining to them how they will benefit ... and stop talking like an amway salesman ... try being honest and intelligent ... so far, i aint seen much of either!

ideas are a dime a dozen weirdo.

people who have the ability to turn an "idea" into a successful business is astronomically small.

it takes much more than an "idea" to make money. 9 out of 10 small businesses will fail this year and they ALL had an "idea".

And Serge, the poker thing had nothing to do with gambling(money). just a mareting tool that every board needs.
and somehow, like the most people here,
I think that
"there is nothing new under the sun"

but....
it would be stupid of us not to hear what you have to say/offer.

I remember lots of doubting tomases greeted me with doubts when I offered 1/16 of a cent payout more than CE and AH

I'm not lol.

But I have known him for years and transacted many millions of dollars of business. :)

So instead of leaving run it past the us peons. ;-)))

If you just wanted Serge's opinion you could have emailed him.
Nick, give him credit...

If you read my post before, i sait a few select will survive. I am a newbie your right I don't know shit. I'll tell you this. if you have heard my idea, then i'll quit smoking crack. If serge or anyone else who doesn't want to try this, finewith me. 20 people can start it and I'll still make make my paper. if any one who has a site, afiliate program or run a message board or sells content or is a shotcallers who like to discuss ideas then post.
ideas are a dime a dozen weirdo.

people who have the ability to turn an "idea" into a successful business is astronomically small.

it takes much more than an "idea" to make money. 9 out of 10 small businesses will fail this year and they ALL had an "idea".[/b][/quote]

Hi Gonzo, it's a pleasure to be speaking to you.

Real quick: the 45 days of research is research as a whole. I did about 3 days of research on the poker tournamentthing.

My research of 45 days is doing a LOT of reading and trying to understand how people think and what lays ahead in the internet world. I took a look a blog, audblogs, moblogs, VOIP, foreign policy, a whole bunch of other things. The most interesting thing that came out of my research was "blogs" it is a truly amazing tool that every company(adult and non-adult) will use for marketing to their clients. blogs will be hitting mainstream stream in a few months.

The way i look at things is what's going to happen in the internet 30 days from now. That's why I bought the poker thing up now as I feel it's about topop and be a household name.

ok, I had to do the whole christmas shopping with relatives day and this is the first time at my computer.

the poker companies have software now where you can start your own tournaments anytime and abny amount of people. for right now we can use that for all the adult message boards who need help. I went over to "ratedhot.com" message board the other day and the guy who runs it was crying about how comes no one post here evern after a contest, blah, blah blah. i looked around at other boards to see what kind of contest they are and it's really a joke.

like I said before I'm a poker player. I've played for 11 years and I will keep playing till the day I die. What makes poker different from casino games(i.e. blackjack, craps, slots.ect..) is poker is a game of skill, the casino games are games of chance. An old poker legend once said "poker takes 5 min. to learn, but takes a lifetime to master". I couldn't have said better myself. There is something about poker that makes you come back and you try to better your skills. It is also very fun to play and everyone is social around the tables so they feel like they are apart of a great community.

I'll talk more on all the angels on how we can use poker. first thing I think would be good to test the waters is oprano.com hold a free "no limit" hold em poker tournament where anywebmaster can enter and try to compete to win prizes. What's the catch? they have to get 1 sign-up to who ever is sponsing that tournment. for example, sunny dollars is the sole sponser. to be in the tournament a webmaster has to go to the site sign up as a affiliate and get 1 sign up(which isn't hard) to be in the tournament. Then there you have about 100 webmasters who get that 1 sign-up and already sunny dollars is a winner and then you have a tournamnet where sunny dollars puts up the prixe. Could be $500, an x-box, free content whatever. you make your sponsor happyin which he is more than likly to come back and offer more stuff for contest.

There is alot more to this, I just wanted to get started and throw that out so we can have some brain stroming going on. Feb. 1st NBC is showing a 2 hour special right before and after the super bowl on world poker tour. That is when it will be inteouded and talked about for months on all the media outlets and soon will be legal for americans to gamble real money on poker(not casino games).

Blogs are already mainstream. It was the big marketing push from last year. Matter of fact when used properly they can drive some search engine traffic back to your site.

Lets see theres blogger.com and then there's live journal. Thats about as mainstream as it gets. Hell everybody and their brother has one of those....

When i mean mainstream I mean everyone knows and talks abouts. Alot of people don't know how to use blogs yet.

lets see there is blogger.com who google.com owns and there is blogs.com the #2 hosting company. livejornal won't go very far.

did you know out of all my blogs the ones I have at blogspot.com(#1 blog in blog hosting) gets more attention in SE than my ones at blog.com(#2 in hosting)

the reason could be google.com owns them. so i focud more on blogspot.com than the others. I also learned to leave themon the free host to get better SE placement. for some reason they pick up all the stuff first at blogspot.com before websites that use blogger.com and host the blogs on thier own servers.

lol. that's funny. good for you. I checked all the blogs companies and livejornal just had some flaws in it. and was really open to expand with others. How is live journal anyways? I really like blogs.com because they use typepad.com and for the 95% of people who don't know dick about HTML ,this is the perfect tool for them.

blogger.com will be the one to go to when they come out with their updated software and monthly tools/hosting packages. soon be sometime in Jan or Feb.

it's the absolutelly the same people who had traffic back in a day who have traffic today
;-))))

I am bored to the points that I book trips every month to remote places,
as I have decided that I'd rather die in 3rd world country airplane crash than out of boredom in my home
;-))))

bribg it on, masterp!
ok, I had to do the whole christmas shopping with relatives day and this is the first time at my computer.

the poker companies have software now where you can start your own tournaments anytime and abny amount of people. for right now we can use that for all the adult message boards who need help.

Ooops I see you already posted while I was driving to work again.

At this point Im going to pour myself a large glass of shut the fuck up and watch what happens. CJ has a lot more poker/online background than I would even claim to have.

I will tell you that during the prepay project we looked VERY briefly at using the card to fund online gambling. Every lawyer we talked to say stay the fuck away.

As far as the webmaster angle... Serge is probably the most qualified person Ive ever seen to pick apart a program or idea.

Ill sit back and nejoy my drink.

Blogs have been in mainstream for years. Coming damn close to a decade now. They just weren't called "blogs" until recently.

Ever heard of Slashdot? Fucked Company? Nuke? PostNuke? Even the one I worked on, Geeklog?

Before they were called blogs, they were "content management systems". They started as single-user live journal update scripts and quickly grew into multi-user environment publishing scripts.

Just recently one of our well-known adult webmasters, TDavid, participated in the 3rd-annual Blogathon. Unofficially it's been going for 4 years, and even then the founder (Cat) was late to the game. People have had blogs since the first moment they discovered they could post random thoughts to their sites and other bored surfers would come read them.

Two years ago the term "Google Bomb" came into play from people with these blogs getting together and linking certain terms to certain pages for the desired effect of having Google point to that page whenever the phrase was searched for - an often funny, if not humiliating, experience for whomever/whatever the search phrase was about.

Mainstream has been eyebrow-deep in blogs for years. The next big thing? It's been a big thing forever and a day.

Just because you just recently noticed them doesn't mean that they're new.

ok. gonzo you got it.

Serge,

worldpokertour.com is getting bigger and bigger. They have the cable tv companies backing and their head sponsor partypoker.com. now partypoker a year ago had maybe 3,000 players playing there at one time. that includes real money and play money. Today after holding thier own "Poker Million" cruise tours, they have 25,000 players playing at the same time there. There also own empirepoker.com which has 12,000 players playing at any one time. This is just the begining of the poker boom.

now worldpokertour.com will be the big dog as they set themselves up with the best poker pros in the business. They have a 13 week tour where they go the best poker rooms(landbase) in the world. They go to Europe and North America right now but will expand in due time. The first season they started they had a total prize pool of $10 million dollars. That means people who played in these tournament shell out their own money for a chance to play and win. the seond season they just had(13 weeks) they had a prize pool total of 30 million dollars. again this is players who put in their own money to play. no sponsers money. Now there 3rd season starts in March and they already predict the prize money to top $70 million. I giving you these numbers to show the progression poker is having.

My idea is oprano start a adult industry poker tour for promote boards, sponsers and whatever else comes to mind. and 2) to see is the best "No Limit Poker Player in the adult industry. you maight say "who gives a fuck who's the best poker player in the adult industry" well you right, who does but when we do find out who is they can have bragging rights and so on so on. people who make the semi-finals can brag and make fun on the ones who didn't. This is more of a marketing thing than a poker thing.

oprano should build a friendship with 12 other message boards. Every week the "Adult Poker Tour" will be a one of these message boards. every board will let anyone enter as long as they post 10 messages at that board and get 1 sign-up for their "Adult Poker Tour" sponser. That way you will have sponsers jumping at the chance to be the sponser for the tournament. 13 weeks 13 boards and the whole time oprano is running it. oprano hooks up with 1 online poker company, one who has a 2 tier affiliate program, so every webmaster that does play in any of these 13 poker tournaments have to sign up at that poke room where we have the tournaments.

I can see this getting bigger and bigger because it is fun for people who are in it plus it is helping boards and sponsers getting noticed. The best thing of it all is you should have the finals which is the top 10? players each week and from there we will crorn the "Best Poker player in the adult industry" During that time you not only will be the buzz of the industry you are making a piece of all those webmasters who either play for real money at that poker site and you make a piece of anyone they sign up as this is a multi-tier affiliate program.

That's the basic concept I have. It can be shaped into anything you want. I have the domain adultpokertour.com and you can use that if you like. I just want to be a part of something that could help make money and build biz relationships arould the adult industry. we could do this poker tournament over and over. the second time we could do 26 message boards in 13 weeks. whatever works best.

much respect,

Pat

I know they are not new. I'm saying it will be big with mainstream. That's means the everyone, the ones who get online for the first time to the ones who been in for a decade will have a blog of some kind. Blogs hasn't even come near to the potenal it has. Just the last 6 months media companies have been worried about them.

if you wanna:
1) moderate it (as you obviuosly know what you are talking about)
2) sell advertising on it (we'll split with you all the business you can bring to make it worth your while)
you'll be able to accomplish your goals, have the cake and eat it too.

Man throws 1m yen from tower
From correspondents in Tokyo
December 23, 2003

A MAN who wanted to share his stock market winnings with the public tossed a million yen ($12,780) worth of US dollar and yen bills from the observation deck of a tower in central Japan today, causing a scramble for the money in the streets below.

The unidentified man grabbed wads of dollar ($1.37) and 100 yen ($1.27) notes from two shopping bags and threw them through an open window of the room at the TV Tower in Nagoya. The room is 100 metres above the street.

The money rained down on the footpaths and streets, where people chased the wind-blown cash. The 100 yen bill is no longer in circulation.

Afterward, the man told NHK television that he wanted to give away some of his profits from playing the stock market earlier this month.

"I have too much money. I don't need it," he said. "I wanted to give some back to the world."
