I'm partial to Duck, Corolla and Carova and Swan beach in the Outer Banks in NC during the offseason. Most of the beach houses in Carova and Swan are 4WD access only so there's not many people to bother you. :P Granted, if you're looking for "excitement" there's nothing to so, but I like my vacations to be relaxing with lots of good food. :awinky:

Second choice would be Waikoloa on the Big Island in Hawaii, but not really a good place for a "short" vacation.

If you're looking for city fun, nothing can beat NYC during Christmas, IMHO. :okthumb:

During the winter you could take a look at St. Petersburg if you've never been there. It will leave you with a nice stereotypical memory of mother Russia B)

I second that and nominate this list for the "These are a few of my favorite things..." category. :yowsa:

I would also add in Monterey, but otherwise this list looks damn good! :okthumb:

I enjoyed it fine, I was just 12, or 13 then.. So I didn't travel too much alone. But I was old enough to like it (except for cocksucking arabs).
18 year old arabs were in my class, I was 12 as I said earlier.. they picked and beated me daily...which built character, fractured my skull and tought me deep hatered towards the arab race.

About the frence language.. I speak it now. I didn't speak a goddamn word when I moved there, learning the language is kinda mandatory in a small town.. nobody speaks english, so I figured it would be easier for me to learn french than teach them to speak english or finnish:)

I'm gonna move to some small spanish town in a few year, marbella or some other nice town on costa del sol, gotta learn spanish too. :)

New York is unbeatable which is why I live here. If you must go someplace else in the States I would say South Beach, Miami Florida. This time of year it's great and the women are drop dead gorgous and looking for a good time.

I like Paradise island in the Bahamas for similar reasons but a more relaxed vibe. http://www.atlantis.com

I will say I must agree with Labret. I love London. The women are not the most attractive but they have a wonderful party spirit that can't be beat! It's a friggin 24hour party over there for me.

Hell, come to think about it, that's everywhere I go. :rokk:

If you're only going for a couple of days, where are you leaving from? I'd hate to spend all my time traveling and not enjoy the destination.

With that said...

St Maarten
Curacao
Puerta Vallarta
Vancouver
Paris
London at Christmas is great

or perhaps you want to ski... Whistler, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah in the west...

Athens is a filthy fucking city. An absolute open sewer when I was there in 1998. Maybe things are better in the runup to the 2004 Olympic Games. I sure as hell hope so. Also, the greeks are rude motherfuckers - especially to tourists. They hate you but they love to take your money.

Venice is a nasty little tourist trap. The canals smell and everywhere you go there are fat middle-aged Americans with flashy cameras slung around their necks and Minnesota State University sweatshirts, in a variety of bright colours, on their obese bodies all the while talking at what must be 50 decibels louder than tourists from any other nation on Earth. Fuckers want their gondola ride. Prices are very high for Italy and on top of everything else the arseholes microwaved my pizza. I wanted out after one day.

Italy has much more to offer. Venice was a major disappointment.

Venice is the worst place in all of Europe for this type of loud, obnoxious tourist. You know the kind that speak slowly but very loudly in English to an Italian when they realize they are not being understood. Patronising fucks.

But for the record I've met a lot of Americans in my travels I have really liked and enjoyed the company of... but virtually all of them I met in Amsterdam smoking weed.

Took me about 6 months, but I was attending 100% french language classes 8 hours a day. No, not french language classes.. but regular school, but the teaching was in french.. so I had very little chance of not learning.

It was actually quite funny, the scale of grades went from 0 to 20, 20 being the best. First tests in evey subject came out 0 or 1 or so, at xmas I got 10's and 11's, and in june when school stopped I got 18's and 20's.

The better grades I got the harder those filthy arab bastards beated me. God I wish I saw them today. Sorry about the ranting, but I have these flashbacks... :papow:

Depends how you define "fun".

If you want to relax and bask in the sun and enjoy the water, go to the carribbean for sure. A bit more exciting than that?? Go to Hawaii, Its awesome there.

If you want to be physical like hiking or camping and enjoy nature, go the the mountains. Im in the US, so i go to the Blue Ridge Mountains to camp and bike/hike, etc. Its absolutely beautiful.

If you want to enjoy the high-life, well.. Vegas, Monte Carlo.. Either will suffice.

Into Culture? You have to go to Italy. This is a wonderful country, and so full of culture..

Just want to party mindlessly and ruin your body?? Go to Amsterdam.. Party Central

I guess you haven't lived in many places.....if you want rude, there is nothing on earth ruder than a bunch of Japanese tourists....pushy, line-cutting, arrogant, superior, mean and just flat out RUDE bastards.

Germans and Russians can also be unbelievable loud, sloppy and arrogant, not to mention totally disrespectful.

Come to think of it...get a bus load of British arriving somewhere and all you will have is a bunch of sheep with bad teeth complaining in abnoxious ignorant tones that "they don't have this and they don't have that", and why don't they do it like they do in the UK...Blah, blah, blah.

I've lived 7 countries pretty scattered around the globe, and I assure you that ugly cheap tourists that "dirty" sacred places come from ALL OVER.

1) Havana (Cuba) wins hands down. That city is passionate, alive and full of energy 24/7. The DAY Americans can live there, I will be moving to Havana.

2) Bangkok (Thailand) would be #2 just for the freak of it all. It's a single mans playground to the 10th power.

3) Los Terrenas (Dominican Republic) is laid back and SLOW, just the way the perfect underdeveloped beach town should be. It's possible to have the beach to yourself all day long. :D

4 Salvador (Brazil) An old colonial city in the north that used to be the spot for slave sales. The African influence is still there 100% and is an amazing city full of African music, dance and art. Did I mention the women are DEVASTATING? Flawless dark skin, perfect teeth and bodies like Serena Williams. :inlove:
