Almonds, pistachios, cashews, sunflower seeds, peanuts.

Can't stand walnuts and those overly large nuts you see in the mixed nut containers whatever they are called.

And I only like pecans mixed in chocolate chip cookies not eating them straight up.

For me it begins and ends with cashews. Lightly salted...

If I have cashews in the house I will keep eating them until they are gone. Can't stay away from them for a second....

This thread inspired me to go online this morning and order 4 pounds of fresh chestnuts from a grower in Washington State. They should be here in 3 days. I hope you're all happy!! Up to this point I was resisting the urge!
I also found out why most of the chestnuts you get in the grocery store are rotten. They just set them out in bins like they can do with the other nuts. You can't do that with chestnuts - gotta keep them refrigerated or they go bad.

Many times! Remember the guy I dated who lived in Bergen County? We'll there's not much to do there (especially when NYC is 20 minutes away :P ) so we went to NYC all the time.

His next door neighbor in NJ had a business, apartment and more importantly, a parking garage for 6 cars on Jane Street in Greenwich Village. We went to bars and restaurants there, went to Little Italy a few times (Teresa and Memos or something was his "special" restaurant where we just sat down and said "bring food"), went to a couple of shows on Broadway, the Empire State Building, Ellis Island, Rockafeller center to see the tree and watch the skaters, etc. Even went to his friends apartment in Brooklyn. :awinky: He took the kid to a ballgame (Shea - is that the Y or M's?).

We went to upstate NY for a wedding, but don't ask me where.

The one thing we kept putting off was going to the Twin Towers. I SO wish I'd gone there. :(

I haven't been since he and I broke up - about 10 years now, but my girlfriends and I say every year we're going to make a "Girl's Trip" there (the beach always seems to win out, hehehe).

You know me and what I like: "It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there". :P

Update - I got my chestnuts today! They're soooooooo good, and BIG! These are just the medium ones, I'd love to see the jumbo size!

Peaches I tried roasting about 7 of them and it's not for me. Tastes way different. They did come out of the shell and skin super-easy, though.

If anyone's interested it's Allen Creek Farm out in Washington and their site is http://www.chestnutsonline.com
They only ship on Mondays and Tuesdays but send 'em UPS express - mine went out at the beginning of this week and got here today all the way across the country (VA). :okthumb:

I remember as a kid driving by the WTC and seeing them finish up the very top of the buildings. Two of my best friends were very lucky to get out of there alive on 9-11, and two guys I knew from high school didn't make it out. :(

One thing I'll never forget was my aunt who was visiting from California. She was 86 at the time, and my friend and I (we were 21 or 22) took her for a drink one evening at Windows on the World. We just sat there talking at a nice table overlooking the Statue of Liberty. She told us all these stories about how she came to America when she was a little girl, how she met her husband, etc... To me and my friend it was simply something to do with my visiting aunt, but to her apparently it was much more... Some years later I went to visit her, and everyone I met said "oh, you're the one who took her up to Windows on the World?" And until she died she always asked me how my friend Paolo was doing. "Such a nice boy..."

I haven't had the heart to go back to New York since...
