Could be old news already, don't know - don't care....
Privacy is your right; and because of that, Kazaa PalŪ is now offering Anonymous Downloading Capability to all Kazaa users! Enjoy the freedom of downloading music files, movies and everything that Kazaa offers in absolute and complete PRIVACY.
Kazaa PalŪ blocks your computer's IP. No robot scanning the Internet can detect your identity, like RIAA's. You may download pictures, movies, and music in complete privacy.
We stand behind your PRIVACY. Because after all, It is your RIGHT.
Interesting. The music industry begins finding downloaders of free music and charging them, so Kazaa comes out with this. Yes, everyone should have a right to privacy while they steal.

I hope this is true about the blocking of IP's. Only the RIAA wants them. The music industry is a money grubbing band of crooks. They have been screwing the artists and the public for years.
I use WinMX, and I think of it as *trading,* not stealing. It's payback time for all those overpriced LP's and CD's I have purchased. :rokk:

Interesting take on things.
I'm of two minds on this issue. In one sense, with regard to NEW music, I see online trading as out-and-out theivery. But you do raise a good point Confucy..... for the 100's of albums I have already purchased over the past 30+ years (I'm 40), I have bought copies of records, then tapes (for the car), and finally I have even purchased the CD version of certain albums. For the albums of some bands, like oh, say, Pink Floyd, or Rush, or Led Zep, I have literally purchased the same album 3 or 4 times. So, if I choose to download a few of those songs off the net to have them in my playlist, I'm damn well going to do it.
However, on the other hand I'm also not crazy about how they (the music industry) charge like $20 for a new CD either. I beleive that price is unreasonable, and it seems that a lot of others agree with me since I heard a local radio DJ say the exact same thing on his morning show recently.
I also use WinMX, it is the best.

It's also easier and faster to download songs from the net rather than rip the cd's..
I'm not denying occasional thievery I do, but I think currently I don't have a single song on my HD that I also don't have on CD/lp.

A lot of the music I download is given freely to internet users by new artists who want the public to hear their music. Even Britney Spears said she has mixed feelings about those who download her music from websites like the ones mentioned here. Artists want to be heard. Sure, they want to make money, but until I see some figures from sources that I trust, I refuse to believe the garbage that the RIAA has released about the music industry being damaged by internet downloaders.
Napster was the best experience I have had. I found music that cannot be found at Tower and music stores. I'm sure those artists who people have forgotten are happy to know that music lovers like myself have discovered them.
I don't mind paying for music, but most of the music I download is music that I already have, and it is faster downloading it than copying it from my original CD's just as pointed out by TGF. I listen to more music directly from my computer than I do in my car or on my stereo. The people I encounter on the music sites really love music, and are buyers as well as downloaders.
The RIAA needs to clean up their backyard before they start suing people.
