Just watched the episode of Naked World where they do a bit on Spencer Tunick. What he did was he went around the world and made art of the naked body. He took photographs of people lying down covering a bridge in Montreal, acting like the shore of a river in Australia, and even as a statue in Russia. It was an amazing show because it brought out the fact that the naked body is seen as a palette and God is the artist. There was a point in the show where a guy who was protesting came up and had a sign reading: "All those that worship Jesus bow down". One of the naked women that was lying down made that point that God brought us into this world naked. I thought HBO did a good job of portraying what this man did, and that was to show the body for the work of art it was.

I saw that show also. It illustrates people should have less hangups about nakedness.

Most of those folks weren't exactly attractive to look at though.

i like the work of Spencer Tunick

it reminds me of the earthworks by Christo, but using the human form instead as the material covering the ground

as far as photograpy goes, i enjoy the work of Diane Arbus much more...it delves deeper and resonates longer

I watched it twice. I've been following his works for about four years now and have enjoyed a lot of his work. I love his imagination and how he can see things with the use of nude bodies. I would love to be a model for one of his shoots. I haven't seen his latest work that he did in NYC Grand Central Station last month yet, but I look forward to it. His largest shoot was in Barcelona in June with 7000 volunteers. Could you imagine the work that would go into finding 7000 volunteers???? That would have been pretty incredible!

Apparently I need to install some parental controls on the satellite feed to the basement.

perhaps if the show was about Robert Mapplethorpe

but the work of Spencer Tunick is no different than allowing your kids to look at sculptures by Michaelangelo or Henry Moore

Yeah, I know - I was just giving him crap. :awinky: He's 20 and has probably seen more porn than I have, but I don't want to even think about it, let alone HEAR about it. :P
