Talk about pain. Doctor has me on a cocktail of antibiotics and antacids. Will take several days for them to work, if they do. Pain is unreal, feels like some it constantly hitting me in the stomach with a baseball bat. Would love to know where I picked it up from.

How long does it take to kick in?

Looks like something you would get from Cabo more then Vegas....

It can sit idle in your body for years, so hard to really pinpoint. But I got it from somwhere, does not just appear.

As for what sets it off, stress among other things are thought to set it off.

My 16 year old had it about 2 years ago. Same time as we found out he had an ulcer, acid reflux, and an esophagial hernia.

Ugh - I had an ulcer that I didn't realize until I almost passed out in N.O. at Cybernext in 2000. Got home, went the hospital that night and needed 4 pints of blood. 4 months, 2 more pints of blood and $25K out of pocket later (I only had hospital/surgical insurance and it didn't cover most of it), they finally did a scope and found out I had a bleeding ulcer. Never even had a stomache ache. :zoinks:

Usually when the body kicks you in the ass like this, it's a real good sledgehammer hint to quit stressing and take things a lot easier.

So I hope you'll be feeling better soon, and that you'll relax more! (A wedding is just a three-hour test of patience, it's all the years afterward that are the good stuff! So don't sweat it!)

The average human mouth has 80 different kinds of bacteria swimming around in there. The average digestive tract has another 400 different bacteria species crawling around.

Kind of weirds you out when you really think about all the critters roaming your body.

I was tempted to reply in a joking manner; but H.Pylori really isn't a joking matter. It causes ulcers and several types of cancer. The acid reflux can destroy your throat and scar your vocal cords. It's bad stuff!

What antibiotic(s) and antacids are you on? Tetracycline? Doxycycline? Does your treatment include pink bismuth? Just curious, wondering if the treatment has changed since my last bout.

Stress is a KILLER!

It seems to bring forth anything bad that you have lurking around in your body...... The problem with stress is, that it doesn't come on overnight - you get used to it and think it is normal, so you live with it a long time. Getting rid of stress, takes a lifestyle change & a long time to undue the damage that it causes.

One of the secrets of getting rid of stress is 'letting go of anger & leaving the past where it belongs - in the past.... concentrate on the only thing that you really have, and that is TODAY. Plan for tomorrow - but don't worry about it. It doesn't do any good. Live in the PRESENT. The past is gone and tomorrow isn't here yet.

Brad - you have let the extra weight creep back up on you. Eat healthier & quit worrying..... stress makes you old fast & doesn't really help anything. People think they are supposed to 'stress out about things - so they do. We are a stressful society. So it is normal to be stressed..... Bullshit! That is sterotype thinking. Attitude adjustment time.....

Wellbutrin is a generic for Zyban and less money. It is very good for staying on an even keel. (and quitting smoking) One of the best things about it is that you can take it with about any other medicine you are taking with no drug interaction problems. Very few side effects (if any at all)

Hope you feel better Brad.. my wife got sick last year with something.. she went to the doctor and they put her on all kinds of drugs. They suggested it was serious but didn't make it sound as bad as it apparently was. Whatever the hell she got it was bad enough that they notified the health department. She got a call asking her a bunch of questions. I won't go into the nasty details but they wanted to know where she had been going out to eat at.. nasty stuff. What your describing sounds worse than what she had and she was miserable.

One of the things I like about North Carolina is that all the restraunts have their health code rating 0-100 displayed publically. You can go to a drive thru window in Charlotte and the health code number is displayed on the window before you pay for the food. If its less than 90 I drive off and never go back.
