Yeah, unfortunately I guess they don't let celebs sit in a makeup chair for three hours before they take the mugshots. hahaha

If you haven't had one hot straight off the line, you haven't truly had a krispy kreme doughnut yet.

My ass tells the sad story of living in towns where they've sold Krispy Kremes almost my entire life. :(

I've been known to slam the brakes and make wild U-turns for a lit up "Hot Doughnuts Now" sign. :rokk:

I think that's something they build into these fancy active handling systems in new cars.... Mine does the same thing when it see's a hot doughnut light on.

I just had some great timing at Krispy Kreme.

The hot light wasn't on, but I had my mouth all set for a doughnut, so I stopped in anyway. The machine was running, but instead of popping out regular doughnuts they were making the shells for the creme filled ones.

I convinced the nice lady behind the counter to sell me hot, glazed shells... and oh my God were they tasty.

Think regular KK doughnut, but without the hole.. and a lot more dough involved. It was warm and gooey on the inside.

Now if they'd only sell bacon to go with it....

Bacon egg and cheese squeezed between two Krispy Kremes!

Just thinking about it makes me hungry and makes my cholesterol rise 100 points!

When I was growing up, my mother would take a Krispy Kreme, split it, spread butter on the non-glazed side and put it under the broiler until they were toasted. :rokk:

If I starved myself 11 months out of the year like she does, I could eat like that and weigh 100 pounds. :P

If they're fresh that sounds a lot like you might be messing up a perfectly good Krispy Kreme. However, for one that is well on it's way to stale, that's a very interesting idea.

When Mom's Krispy Kremes are heading for the 'stale' designation, she'll take the whole thing and drop it into a hot frying pan (no oil). Brown it on both sides while pressing down on it really hard and then eat it while it's still hot.
Sounds like hell but tastes awesome.

Richard N. Bush
11-17-2003, 07:20 PM
'round here it's very rare for a KK doughnut to get anywhere near stale.

However, I like the frying idea, so I'm going to try and let one stay in the box too long next time I buy them.
