Don't even get me started - it's not that I'm pregnant now, I've always been an advocate of homebirth and until recently was heavily involved in that community.

I doubt that *any* of these pictures and the videos inside are licensed and I'll be hitting up my homebirth lists to take a look at it, and getting Laura Shanley to look too (she's seen about every homebirth and waterbirth video in existence and personally knows most of the couples in them).

And of course IBILL is processing for it - why does that not surprise me?

Carrie is napping at the moment, and I can't "really" speak for her, but I think I know where she is coming from.
To put it simply, displaying child birth as something "pornographic" is wrong. Even if you can see all the "important" parts, promoting it as "pornographic" takes it out of context. Listing "adult" webmaster sites with it puts it in a "tainted" light, so to speak. There isn't anything wrong with home birth videos, it is just being used in an off color way.
In most cases, if the video is viewed by anyone other than the couple/mom, it is the close fiends and family, and it is being shared as a very special moment in their lives. Some people may be a little bit further on the "free spirit" side and post it on the net, but it is still so that they can share something very special to them with whom ever may care to see it.
I too wouldn't think that any of these couples would have licensed their video/pics for someone else to use for profit. It is possible, but unlikely.

Not at all Serge. You used a reverse type of marketing ploy to get the traffic. Things like "If you're looking for "this", you won't find it here." gets peoples attention. Why, I don't know, it's just human nature. The difference, as I see it, between porn and child birth is that sex can be done just for the sake of sex. No intimacy, no tenderness, just raw sex. Child birth is something that is on a totally different level. It is the most important thing (maybe not for everyone) that you can do as a human being, bring new life to the world.

Well Serge, what is dirty is in the eyes of the beholder. I personally don't think that sex is at all dirty. Child birth is the furthest thing from dirty you can get, if you ignore all the fluids, blood and such. :awinky:
There are some things that I do find disgusting, that others love. As long as all parties involved are of consenting age and willingly participating, so be it, I don't have to involve myself if i don't like it.
I guess what it comes down to is that everyone has their own moral standards, but there are some things that simply go outside the boundaries of that and become amoral. It's not a feminist thing at all. It's more like...
-Birth is a private and sacred event, and women shouldn't be forced to have 15 strangers in the room screaming orders at her while she's doing it.
-Women's bodies have been giving birth for much longer than doctors have been around; they were made and designed to do this; the interjection of a doctor doesn't suddenly make everything safer. On the contrary, having the baby in a hospital subjects it to all kinds of germs and illnesses that it doesn't have to be subjected to.
-When a woman is giving birth she will naturally get into the position that is most comfortable for *her*; but when you're in a hospital you have to get into the position that is the most comfortable for the doctor to deal with, even if that position hampers your ability to give birth. (With my last kid, I was trying to get on all fours, the doctor forced me to lie on my back and then he lifted my butt up as high as he could get it so that the only thing touching the bed were my shoulders... and this was because *he* wanted to stand up during the procedure... ever tried giving birth uphill?)

I had a C-section after 48 hours a labor. Give me a hospital birth any day. :P

Heck, even if I'd whipped that sucker out in 15 minutes I still want to be in a hospital with drugs. :)

But my sister had hers last year at home in a pool (really). My mother the midwife even thought it was odd, but everything worked out OK.

Carrie, my mother had all her children at home with no complications.

My little cousin who is 18 recently had her baby boy at home, and there were problems. Her mother-in-law really didn't know what the hell she was doing, and the mother and baby had to be rushed to the hospital.

It's your body. Do what you believe is best for you and your child. I agree that the hospitals are overflowing with germs. I don't know how the hospital staff stays healthy. They must build up strong immune systems.

I really don't see what the sexual appeal is for that site... I mean really, who gets off on babies stretching/ripping open bloody vaginas? I don't think it would bother me half as much if it was just a "birth appreciation" site or something, like the internet's version of "a baby story". The thought of someone jerking off to that though is beyond abhorrant. And the documentation, well I would DEARLY love to see that.
