View Full Version : Perl/MySQL Programmer Needed Immediately

I usually have my own team of programmers, but right now I have the bunch of them completely tied up for the forseeable future, therefore ...

Am in need of a knowledgable Perl programmer with MySQL experience immediately for short term gig. So any one attached to a company who has some free time -- and is permitted to freelance -- this could be up your alley. On the other hand, if you're not already contracted to someone, this will more than likely lead to additional future work.

Project involves adding features to an existing, large script suite. So some items will be new and standalone, some must integrate with existing code, other parts of existing code must be modified. Extensive dB tracking. Also, knowledge of video file formats desired.

I'm calling this a five-six week project, but it's very possible (depending on your speed, abilities, time you can devote to this, etc.) that it could be done in shorter time. Either way, project completion is in mid-December and must begin next week.

Provide references, a short background and show me a few scripts you've created on your own (and can demonstrate they are indeed yours.) Best applicants will be given details of the project, at which time you'll respond with your quote. Upon agreement to begin, you will submit a timeline at the projects start and keep to it.

Contact me at dravyk at dirtygloves dot com with your info. I'd suggest putting something about "programming" in the subject header so it doesn't inadvertantly end up in the spam dumpster.

If you don't program yourself but know of someone who does, please let them know about this, if you would. Thanks.

I'll ask a couple of my friends. You know how this generation is with programming and such.

okay, just talked to him, and I guess he is better at fixing PERL than building from scratch as he does most of his building in PHP . . . . so, not sure if he will contact after all

sarettah - forgive me for forgetting but what languages do you program in and what is your programming background?

Used to work with a young guy who was a magician with code ... not sure if he is working with another program now, but I'll let him know. We never threw anything at him that he had trouble doing in a timely manner.

Thanx for thinking of me Vick :)

But I am very weak at PERL...I have done a small amount of programming in it and would not even try to pass myself off as someone who could do this without a pretty good leadin to get ramped up....

Dravyk and I have already talked :)

Damn... I almost missed that this was my chance for blatant self promotion....

(in my best Don Pardo voice)

Well thank you for asking Vick...........

My primary focus has been full database systems within a windows environment.

My usual tools are Visual FoxPro against Oracle or SQL Server databases although for the past 2 years I have been doing a hell of a lot of VB and ASP development.

I have done a fair amount of PHP/MYSql development also. But I consider myself still in the advanced learning stages on it.

I specialize in fully automated "blackbox" database marketing solutions, meaning if the system takes more than one button push to accomplish it's tasks I feel that there is still development needed.

Currently I am a Systems designer/analyst/Manager for a direct marketing company here in Kansas City. I supervise a team of from 5 to 10 programmers (depending on the project). Most projects I have developed are quoted as beyond a 500 hour range and I generally bring them in well before the due date and well under quote.

So for the current time being, if you are looking for a simple php script, I am not your source. However, if you are looking for a full backend processing solution, I'm the kind of guy you need.

Thank you for the opportunity to brag for a second....

we now return you to our regularly scheduled thread........

Sarettah, also enjoys badmitten, cool walks by the shore in moon light holding hands and puppy-dog cold noseys. He looks good in a bathingsuit (he says) and is an avid collector of Hummels. In his free time, snuggly up by the fire with a good book, and he is a strong proponent for world peace.
