I was offered the opportunity to open up a Russian Nite Club in North Miami...
I don't know the area that well,
you think it can grow roots there?
Not a South Floridian but what occurs to me
You say Russian Nightclub and I'm thinking along the lines of Rasputin's
Can you get a demographic survey/study of a 60 miles radius from where the club would be located to see if the populace is there to support it?
Is there a strong (or any) local community that would support/frequent the club?
Can you look into other clubs in neighborhood, their longevity, clientèle?
What are the liquor licensing requirements? (here in Maryland we have strict liquor licensing requirements, I have no idea about Florida) If a club exists on the proposed spot does the liquor licensing come along with the purchase?
What are the food serving restrictions or abilities?
What about the zoning for the proposed locale?
Anyone in South Florida have any info on this or input on where this information can be obtained?
Just spitting out the thing that cross my mind in 30 seconds, am sure there are other important concerns

Vick, if I go into it, I would cater not just to Russians but to the "yankees" as well...
you've been on the inside, you knoiw howe different it is to the "natives",
from your expereince,
you think it can fly?

Good idea Serge, strong Russian community here with $$$$. We just placed ads in the Russian Magazine and have a friend of ours answering them for new talent...amazing response
Looking at the prices of ads in the magazine and the number of them, the local Russian community is large
Serge, I loved Rasputin's but I might not go without a "community" member
But who knows, here in Baltimore we have a little Italy which all enjoy
Again I'd like to see demographics on the area, is there a strong Russian community to pull from in a 60 miles radius?
Are there any other Russian clubs in the area?
Photogregg, do you have any info on the Russian magazine you just posted about please? Where can copies be found?

isn't there one on hallendale blvd.? or is that just a russian restaurant?
Something else occurred to me Serge
Do you want to put in all the hours that are necessary to open and operate a nightclub?
The club owners I know here are at their club's every night, meeting and greeting, making sure everything operates as it should and dealing with any headaches
Could cut down on your vacations :(

there are other Russian clubs, but they are VERY distant cousins from their Brooklyn relatives, quality is NOT up to par for my NY standards...
I wouldn't open
"one among the equals", I want one 3 heads ABOVE the rest!

Vick, of course not, that's why I am teaming up with a nite club owner from New Jersey, Forest and MikeW met her.
I'll be semi silent partner...checking talents with Greg's help

Serge,
what a great idea. wish I lived down there, I would open a dang club :)
Serge - how about taking a few days, you and LL getting a hotel in the area and visit the clubs/restaurants there and get a feel for the area and community?
I'd suggest a Thursday - Saturday so you'd see both the weekdays and weekend
Play the tourist, ask questions, make observations
You did sell signs for 2 days before opening Signs, Signs, Signs :awinky:

hey Serge..
Let me start by saying yes, it is a good idea.
I live in Fort Lauderdale right now and on my last shoot in South Beach I had to search my ass off to find a russian restaurant. My grandparents on my fathers side were from Lithiuana, and I'd love to go to Russia and Lithiunia to check it out. If there was a russian club in Miami I'd be there every weekend!
As Gregg pointed out, there is a large russian population in South Florida and they control a fair amount of money here. Esp. when talking about some strip clubs down here.
Let me know if you'd like any more info from me or if you come down. ICQ: 35917543

Lucky you!! No drinkinjg for me.
My income is reversely proportional to the amount I drink! ;-)))
Not wishing to tewll my grandmother how to suck eggs...but...
Make sure you own the building.
The capital gain on the building will prolly offset the operating losses on the Corp which operates the actual Club ;-)))
Thus you drink for.....FREE!!!!! ;-)))

Why not take the million $ you could potentially blow on that idea (no faster way to lose $ than bars/restaurants) and put it into PHBIII?

I'd rather risk my head getting russian mafia bullet than risk the wrath of Ron and Mizrahi (one of his legal apostoles)

One of the great things I always loved about Chicago was all the neighbors and culture clubs. I dated a guy who would take me from Japan to Russia all in one night. South Florida is such a Mecca. I think it would work. Especially if you kept it to theme. I would go.
Don't forget to fight the cause!

I kind of liked the National Club in Brighton Beach, in fact if I ever go again I might just have a few drinks : )
I noticed a few of the replies mentioned russian dining, and it just occured to me that I don't know of any Russian dishes off-hand. What are some famous Russian dishes I should try if I ever go to a Russian rest?

Buff, if you wanna eat Russian style, do NOT memorize the names, just come with me or any other "native", ask Billy, Mike, Sig the way it's really done

When I spent a year dating a guy in NJ, we would go to Little Italy in NYC and just ask the chef/cook to start sending things out. If you're w/o a native, it's the BEST way to really try out what "normal" people don't/won't order. :okthumb:
