I'm saving alot of time by not posting on gfy because of all the "I want to one up you" shit in alot of my threads. (yes I'm banned for a bad joke, but have other nicks)

So why bring that shit over here? I only try to contribute to the board. You're thoughts about me will change a bit in weeks to come, if they have not already. All I ask is some of you give me a little more courtesy when chatting with me, you'd get to know me a lot easier if you asked me some questions or just gave general comments to my posts.

and I am talking about my car pics thread....I'll post my mensa cert. next time I'm around home (it's on my grandparents wall, they live close to my old house). I'm just saying...shit talking isnt a great way to get to know someone because it only brings out the worst in them.

I'll be around....

your assumption here is that the audience is interested in you in some way and that our secret want is to know and understand you.

problem is i dont want to get to know you. i find you just irritating enough to generally ignore unless i've been drinking and have accordingly lowered my iq to "mensa status".

your asking us to take you seriously Grogan. You may not realize that fact, but thats what you want. Then you say "I am attacked in every thread" and point to your car pics thread as a shining example.
Hello! Wake up. You car thread came across as an attempt to impress us with your material wealth. Yet you fail to comprehend that some of the people here could shit both your cars after a night of bad mexican food. I won't mention him by name, but one person here has 14..........14 freaking cars young man, all of which I would bet are monetarily valued much more then yours.
You brag insessantly about your brilliance and success to people who are, in fact, proven to be brilliant and successful. You fail to grasp the very simple concept that in these circles, until you have proven
that bears repeating PROVEN yourself, your less than a fart in the wind to the likes of all of us.

Best advice I can give you. Instead of trying so hard to beat into our heads how important it is that we get to know you. Simply shut up, read the board, and get to know us. It won't take long for even you to realize that your style won't fly here. Change your MO and you have a shot.

Grogan, if GFY was kindergarten, welcome to post graduate school. The same cutsy tricks that might have made others elsewhere go "ooh" and "ahh" simply don't work here. In fact they backfire if you're observant enough to have noticed.

So take off the "wannabe" T-shirt and stow the "everyone look at me" attitude. And while you're at it, stick the whiny "don't pick on me" speeches away too, cause all that's done is paint a nice red target between your eyes. Now, that's my advice IF you want to stay around here.

Your best advice might be self-preservation (leaving while the getting is good) if you're incapable of adaption. Take my advice, ignore it, I don't give a rats ass either way.

I've already done the long mentoring speech thing, so the only thing left to add is this - before getting defensive, stop and ask yourself if someone might just be joking in general rather than poking fun *at you*.

A perfect example would be the way you reacted to my "bitchin' camaro" quote versus my "blingmobile" picture. The second was much more fun, wasn't it?
I honestly wasn't attempting to insult you when I did the bitchin' camaro thing. It's what *always* pops into my head whenever I see a camaro or the word "camaro". (A curse of the 80's, I know.) Hence the reason I wrote "(sorry, it's the first thing that popped into my head.)"
When you got all defensive about that it pissed me off, because I was just joking around; but you were already in defensive mode about it and couldn't see it.

Don't leave your sense of humor at the door. Learn to laugh with people, and especially laugh at yourself. It makes life much easier to deal with.

as you grow up a bit I am sure people will be willing to give you more chances but just keep in mind that just because you are on a different board doesn't mean you get a clean slate as far as a reputation goes. As my mother always said - best behaviour at all times young lady (or man as the case may be).

Unfortunately, grogan, this is one of the places where being young is definitely not an attribute that lets you rise above the crowd. If you do a little background research on many of the people who frequent Serge's den of sophistry (just kidding Serge!), you will realize that these are some of the biggest achievers in the business, and compared to them, your achievements are... miniscule. I'm not saying this to be offensive, we had our row and it's dead and gone as far as I'm concerned. But do take my friendly advice and perhaps re-evaluate your approach.

There are many people here worth listening to and learning from. If you can somehow surmount the obstacle of your pride (which although is somewhat founded, needs to be tempered with good sense and a bit of humilty), you may actually become an accepted contributing member of this community, instead of a pinata.

...and you've gotten some other really great advice here as well. Swallow your pride and take it. We all come off as stupid obnoxious newbies in the beginning, that's expected. Now who's on a winning streak
Don't cry please stop, leave me alone

But you're daddy's little squirt
