I bought 4 Beryl Cook's years ago (my wife loves the British seaside postcard look) , probably the best investments I've ever made. :)

Her Stuff is here (http://www.berylcook.org/store/main_unlinked.aspx?link=true&id=300)

A while ago I told Prophet8 I was buying a Dali and he said " Doesn't he play center froward for Italy?" Funny shit :)

I like Howard Finster (http://www.finster.com/HFBiography.htm). As my son says, it looks like a 5 year old made them, lol, but I love the colors and the folk art fits perfectly with the log cabin. I also have a lot of 30-40's antique quilts that hang over my stairway. Again, chosen because I love the colors - they're probably worth 1/2 of what I paid for them. :P

I'm more of a photography person than a painting person. But when it *does* come to painting, put me down as a Kinkade nut.

I just can't get into those abstracts and things that "look like a 5yr old" did it, lol (to borrow your phrase, Peaches).

Carrie, because the charir of the department I was in had met him,
I had the opportunity to purchase a signed original 11x14 photograph
by Ansel Adams in 1981, for about $650.00... couldn't come up with
the money...

Oh god that's horrible Seth - I bet you've been kicking yourself for that ever since. His nature photography is beautiful, I especially love black and whites. I take a lot of the photos of the content I buy and greyscale them in Paint Shop Pro; they just look so much better. I wish there was more of a market for "artsy nudes". Taking the color out takes out so much of the noise... just leaves the shapes and the play of light on the softness of the skin. It's much more sensual.

Anyway... years ago I used to collect Brandenburg prints. Haven't even unpacked them in at least... 8 years or so. Couldn't even tell you where they are now. Probably in my parent's workshop attic. I just love his wolf photography.

Yeah, that one still hurts...

Definitely not enough market for the artistic expression of
sensuality on the web... I tried to use that to a certain
extent in my own work.

As far as artists, I do have an appreciation for some abstract
work... never been a huge Picasso fan, but I've always loved
Van Gogh and Georgia O'Keefe... much of my "non-adult"
work has some abstract qualities...

10 bonus points if you know where this was shot... :awinky:

It almost looks like Fleet Street I think it's called in Vegas where they do the light show, but the top is different - I honestly have no idea!
It's awesome, though, I love the color in that one.

Actually, its an underground walkway between terminals of United Airlines
at O'Hare Airport... taken in the middle of the day... a 60 second time
exposure to blur out all the people... the overhead neon flashes on
and off in sequence down the walkway.

10 points for Grogan!
I thought it kinda looked like an airport or subway terminal but the shiny look on the floor threw me; it looks wet. I don't think I've ever been through O'Hare.

Show some more!

very nice Serge! Didn't you post that you saw that in italy but the owner of the restaurant wouldnt sell. Did you have an artist make a copy? Or did the owner finally come to their senses?

Wish I could afford even one original van gogh, til then i just have fauxs on the wall along with this. This is my most recent purchase, i'm going to buy some more of her stuff to decorate our offices with.

I don't know a whole lot about art -- I'm, rather uncultured in that respect. It's funny -- the paintings I like are usually less valuable than the paintings I hate.

I like painting depicting life-like landscapes, portraits, or locations -- like some of the ones in the New Orleans Museum of Art -- the Battle of New Orleans or Marie Antoinette, etc.

I absolutely hate Picasso.
