"CHATSWORTH, Calif. – Matrix Content found itself in the middle of a very heated conflict today with the webmaster community.

Rumors have been circulating since last week that Matrix was responsible for giving Acacia Technologies personal contact information from its substantial database of adult webmasters.

The allegation is that when Matrix conceded to signing a licensing agreement with Acacia earlier this year for use of its DMT streaming technology, Matrix in turn gave Acacia access to its database.

Earlier today, Norman Bentley, president and founder of Matrix, made a post on the XBiz message boards making a plea for his innocence in the matter with Acacia. "

it does not matter. information was trusted to them. that trust was violated in the most horrible way. its as simple as that.

there is no question that webmaster contact and site info went from Matrix to Acacia

There is no doubt in my mind they let the DB out to Acacia.

What is now pissing me off, is someone at Matrix is hinting( when people call) that DirectNIC is the one who gave out their names. Our legal time is looking into it now. If we can confirm this, Matrix will have a lot bigger problems then Acacia and some pissed off webmasters....

a big dissapointment for people who have been in the biz a while. the old "a disgruntled employee/we are doing a full investigation" routine is about as spent as the "i cant believe the designer i hired copied your site... i am sorry and he was fired" routine.

Not to mention the old- "We do not sell your members emails database, a disgruntled employee must have stolen/sold it"

Or, "we do not send spam- it came from one of our affiliates- they will be terminated without pay"

"we do not shave, our stats servers went offline temporarily....dont worry all signups are being counted

RLOFLMAO!!! That is too funny!

Is there anyone I can trust with my business in adult?

The more I'm part of this community the more I feel that my processors and sponsors are ripping me off.

Who can be trusted? Any good companies out there? Seriously

There's enough circumstancial evidence out there to convince me that Matrix is ONE of the databases they have. I'm not convinced that it is the only one.

And it may indeed not have been given to them as part of the settlement or even with the knowledge of the principles.

That mailer was essentially spam. It was totally untargeted and unverified. It was designed to lighten the wallets of those who scare easily. It was an ad, not a legal document.

So it is likely they bought that list. If not as part of a settlement, it could've potentially been purchased from anyone with access to a juicy webmaster database. We all know how customer lists and such get out there. Under the table deals for customer data aren't tough at all to find in this industry.

Anything is possible. My gut instinct is still either that someone is further into bed with these guys than we know or someone gave up their customer data to get a better deal.
