So, I have had a forum up for the better part of, oh i don't know, 3-4 years. I was going to close it down because i never really thought much about it. It was another place to stick a couple of banners for my sites and let it ride.
Well, I recently changed to a new forum layout and this one would show me exactly how many times each post has been viewed
here is an atypical example
12488 17-10-2003 at 06:45 PM

now, thats 12488 views of that post which was made on the 17th, (it being the 21st right now). I average around 2,000-5,000 page views per post on this dang forum. But don't see a lot of sign ups to my site(s) from it. Now I finally realized that this is valueable traffic. What can I do with it? Should i change banners? what? how could i possibly make this forum of mine work for me?

Any ideas?

If it were me Id upsell the shit out of it along with a mix of traffic that feeds to different stuff. Unfortunatly I only have one site [which you now are half of] that Id recommend sending traffic to.

5K of page views minimum.....dayumn! Is this in the free area or paid area?

Free forum gonzo, I think I have showed it to you once or twice. I have every intention of promoting saucerhead on it when it goes live. The problem for me is (and this si sticky) since it is hosted on Apollos-Temple, that has to be the main focus of the site. My hands are tied on it.

well YEAH! Thats what I was thinking, but there are a couple of stumbling blocks that I am not bright enough to get around
1)it HAD a PR of 6 before the move (that page now redirects to the new forum) now its PR is 0
2)The forum has been around since right after my members site opened, and i know a lot of these people have already joined the site, many are still members that we e mail back and forth too.
3)Our site is fairly well known, so i am thinking a lot of people have checked it out and joined and cancelled, or took the tour and decided not to join. Same with our main affiliate link on the site which is Badpuppy, most everyone has been there done that.
4)I have a partner who has allowed us to promote other sites on the forum, BUT Apollos-Temple MUST be the most prominent site on that forum, makes sence, unless people have seen it and decided not to join.
any ideas would be appreciated.

Not to sound stupid, but what's PR?

Why not some kind of rotating script for banners, or text links? With the right script you can way some banners to show up more then others ( like apollos temple)

I think he means Google Page Rank.

it's a reference to the popularity rating of your site in google. the higher the better, 6 is very good.

i had no clue what a pr was either til last week.

Thats a good idea MikeAI, about the rotator for banners. I will look into what we can do with that idea.

Domains with great PRs die every day...

I have a tool that follows this activity so that you can snap up these domains. If you are interested. (http://www.xnations.com/pageranks/)
