2 US diplomats killed in Gaza

A large explosion Wednesday rocked a U.S. diplomatic convoy in the Gaza Strip (search), killing at least two American and wounding four others, Fox News has learned.

Arafat is a weak leader, but still a symbol - however more and more palestinian groups are attemping to get in position to take over when he dies (which is probably soon) - maybe this attack was made to put the current palestinian goverment in a bad light, and make them loose more support from the US?

Several hours after the bombing, U.S. investigators arrived at the scene and photographed the mangled van. About a dozen Palestinian youths threw stones at the investigators as about 200 Palestinians looked on.

As the angry crowd chanted "Allahu Akbar" — "God is great" — the Americans rushed back into their cars, surrounded by nervous Palestinian security officers with rifles raised. Palestinian police beat some people in the crowd while pushing the spectators back, and the cars sped away under a hail of stones.

Mikey ... where did I say that Arafat didn't commit this act? In fact, where did I say or imply that he was a nice guy? Why do you immediately leap to the conclusion that that I am defending Arafat? There's a whole lot of people in the Middle East with blood on their hands, some of them who hate Arafat far more than even the Israelis do.

My reaction was to the simple-minded notion that Arafat is responsible for every evil thing done in the name of the Palestinians in the Middle East. Granted, expanding the cast of characters beyond one person may strain the mental capacities of some people ...

the timing of the convoy being hit follows closely the US being the only country to vote against the israeli wall being built in the west bank.

Clarification: The above is a cynical post in memorial for past oprano discussion about violencve in the middle east.
The above post does not necessarily represent the writer's view.
As a matter of fact the writer (me) thinks this is sad and that this act was yet another cowerdice terror attack which may not make sense to most Oprano's readers but does make some strange sense in the minds of many palestinians - certainly most of those to do with power in the palestinian territories and authorities - and that this act makes as much (none at all) sense and has zero legitimacy as all the other terror attacks perpetrated before that one even in not against stripes and starts flagged cars or people.
