Is the Internet More Dangerous Than Ever?
Tue Oct 14,10:00 AM ET
David Legard, IDG News Service

Internet use is still growing fast but so is Internet-based fraud, according to security vendor Verisign, which examined data from its own infrastructure services between August 2002 and August 2003.

According to Verisign's study "Internet Security Intelligence Briefing," released Monday, 6.2 percent of e-commerce transactions carried out in the U.S. were attempts at fraud. More than half the fraud attempts were made by entities outside the U.S., Verisign said.

Also, the number of security incidents almost doubled between May 2003 and August 2003, Verisign said.

Key words here are "attempts at fraud." If you look at your declined list on an everyday basis you will see this is true. And in the adult industry it is probably higher than this (6%)... but it is the amount that actually gets through that matters.

Which means that you need a really heavy duty scrub to take place.....

But the trend lately seems to be cascading options which, imho, overrides a heavy scrub... If it won't go through the first one, try the second, if it doesn't get through there, try a third...
