Sen. Orrin Hatch wants to allow foreign born citizens the option of running for US President.

Is it a good idea?

Go on change it... let him run for Pres... the rest of the world will fall right into place thinking he's a cyborg from the future

I mean common' if he can be an American Commando he can be President.. right??

Or they'll be scared that this type of guy teaches your kids in kindergarten...

Or that he was the first guy to get pregnant....

I think I should stop now...

why so sometime this century we could have a Mexican born pres ?

while this part of the constitution was put in place to prevent Brits or another foreign country from a having political influence it makes as much sense now as it did 200+ years ago.

It's tough to say.. If they did amend it, then there should be some serious residency requirements.

Even George Washington was born in North America (Virginia). Arnold isn't the first foreign born US citizen to come along that *might* have made a good President were it not for a 200+ year old law that prevented it. I don't think he's worth changing anything. Even if he's the best Governor California has ever seen, I still don't think we should change it.

So am on the only movie dork who remembers this conversation from Demolition Man? I have an excuse... it was the oh so tasty Sandra Bullock :inlove: speaking (who spent the entire film in skin-tight black pants! :yowsa: )...

Lt. Huxley- "I found the records in the Schwarzenneger Presidential Library..."

Det. Spartan- "WAIT - he was PRESIDENT?"

Lt. Huxley - "Yes - wasn't he an actor? Anyway his popularity at the time caused the 26th Amendment that...."

Det. Spartan - "I don't want to know..."

I like Arnie, and I wish him the best of luck, but I do not think the Constitution should be changed. ( especially sine Serge said he was not interested!)

They do say one prerequisite for pres is having a dark past.

You'll do well.

So far all we know is that Arnold can win an election.

Foreign-born president? Hmmmm. I don't really care. What's the argument against?

Hatch is only saying this because of last nights win. I don't support changing it either.

Boy I would love to see the Mich. Gov run someday, pres, vp, etc. but she will never get that chance as she was born in Canada.

He won in this fluke election, that's what happ..

What's the argument against?

Yeah...why not?

Maybe its some antiquated law like the one giving every American the right to wear TShirts (the right to bear arms)

The only change we need to make in the Constitution is to outlaw anything even remotely resembling Socialism or Communism. Oh, and we also need to spell out the way the Supreme Court reaches its' decisions...Certain decisions recently have been decided not on the basis of Constitutionality; but by looking at the laws of other countries.

Do you find the concept of freedom difficult to understand?

I've read your posts...you're an idiot!

Socialism/Communism are anti-freedom. I will not get into an explanation to anyone who feels that they might. GFY!
