What's bizarre is that the FTC is giving the list of numbers to the telemarketers. Many people have reported a HUGE increase in telemarketing calls since they signed up for the list.

Being from Oklahoma, I find this comical.

"Lawmakers rushed the bill through the House and Senate last week after a federal judge in Oklahoma ruled that the FTC did not have the power to stop telemarketers from calling people who had signed up for the registry".

Get off the Crack Judge!!!

This has definitely been an interesting case to watch... we signed up for the list.... I'll admit... we get hassled by telemarketers more than what I think could be considered as "normal" on our unlisted phone number. It's really frustrating.

I did do one thing that worked once for about a month... on our answering machine I made a message that said, "hello....? hello....? HELLO....? Oh, that's right, we're not home right now. Please leave a message and we'll call you if we feel like it." I think they got through the first 2 hellos and hung up every time. lol We finally took it off though because it kept pissing off friends/family - they kept getting fooled by the message.

Telemarketers.... something actually worse than those herbal viagra spammers! :headwall:

They are right Peaches. Ever since I put myself on that no call list, I have gotten 3 times more telemarketing calls ever since! It's like they sold the list to the telemarketers to try and get that last buck from me before the ban was in effect. Bastages!
