Do you know if there is any plan for Carroll Shelby to make one last Shelby mustang with the 68 retro body due in 2005
if he did a gt500kr even for one year on that car....ala saleen.....it would be priceless
just wonderin

I was thinking the same thing... the new retro mustangs coming out in 2005 are hot.
I know they have been working on the taking old fastback Mustangs and pimping them out Eleanor style. http://www.sandersonsales.com/
I am not sure what Carroll is doing, it appears that he is taking a less hands on approach and have turned things over to other people.
But the 3 models he has here are pretty nice http://www.sandersonsales.com/eleanor.html if they would do this to the 2005's I would definately want to buy one!
Here is the throw backs they are making... they call it the GT500 E

Thing is, its still not an orignal GT500.... I have a 1968 GT 500 KR which I have pimped out. Added many of the things they have - including disk breaks, custom exhaust, bigger tires/wheels, new suspension system. All of this is needed to make the car safe. 500 HP in a 1968 car is DANGEROUS....
Here is mine, all I have to do is get a new paint job on it.... going with black, but thinking silver stripes would be nice!

I remember in some thread months ago you posted your 68 and was blown away.
I think the repro 68 500E's are ok
If I was decision maker over at the headquarters in Vegas i would be working a deal to make 100 05's
My guess is that they would go for $200k easy.
I am a HUGE muscle car history buff...what poweplant are they going to use for the series 1 with the end of oldsmobile ....I thought they were running Aurora powerplants....not sure though.
Beautiful car Mike

Yes Series 1 is based on Aurora power plant.
I would definately be interested in buying an 05 bodystyle mustang that Shelby pimps out.
Not sure if they have any plans. I know there was some lawsuits going on between ford and shelby over the "cobra" name plate awhile ago...

The new one looks strange to me.. but I think it could grow on me.
Mike - that is one slick '68. I bet that is a blast to drive.

I just slid off of my chair.
The refitted Eleanors are out of my price range but if they *do* make more than 100 of these, I WANT ONE.
Edit: Ne'er mind, these *are* the refitted ones. Dangit. I thought you meant they were actually manufacturing some new ones. *pout*
