free trials

Can a veteran like serge or mikeai or bradshaw tell me the realistic
outcome of free trials? What sponsors will keep them which won't?

My typein traffic does a lot better on free trial sites and I don't really trust asking the people I send traffic to how long free trials will last because they'll tell me anything I want to hear.

I am against free trials. I have always been against free trials. Of course when sending traffic, the sales are always better - but its not good for long term business interest.

I do not see free trials being around past this year - at least not in the same old way they have been used in the past.

Most people who have free trials are playing some type of game with the surfer.... of course WEG does not fall into that catagory, but others I would definately investigate.

HAHA I have been called much worse!

Sending signups to free trials on a PPS used to be a great deal. But times are a changing!

Unless you have access to the data of the program (people that run the programs obviously do)...isn't anything at this point that has to do with recurring not the "safest" of long term strategies considering the impending visa changes?

PPS...whether free trial/paid trial/full membership seems to be the best - get yers in hand while you can and wait to see who's standing after the axes drop.

I've always thought that free trials are in the long run, gonna kill us. Doing this business for a LONG LONG TIME has taught me many things.

1. Those that go the get rich quick route end up like dozens of large programs that I can no longer recall the names of.

2. Chargebacks are of no real concern to the end webmaster, as they posture: "it's the program's responsibility to keep the surfer" True in some aspects, but was there truth in advertising in the first place, or did that "type in traffic" end up at a tour unsuitable for that surfer?

3. PPS MUST have a built in shave to survive at current payout levels. It's simple math. Cross sells worked for a while, they won't anymore.

4. Greed kills.

5. Read number 4 ten times.

The program you pick to advertise is YOUR personal choice. There are many good ones out there. There are really good ones out there. It's YOUR choice how you wish the money to come in.

You can collect big checks for a few months, or you can collect checks that grow over a longer period of time.

Your mileage will vary.

this biz has always been about get rich quick by taking advantage of new opportunities that come by whether its free trials, cross sells, spam, fake niches, new niches or reality sites. One that jumps on the bandwagon first eats the most cake.

Statsmegaplex is pretty awesome (and we're leasing it to programs, be they pps, ppc, ppi, recurring, whatever) Any size program from tiny to huge, it can handle it. I've been doing recurring for too many years to count now. I'm still here.

I'm sure you know quite a bit more than me but from a webmaster's perspective...trusting rebills to even be there, let alone grow, until after the visa fiasco settle's down dont' seem the smartest move at this point.

Chargeback ratio's should be a concern of the webmaster. The sponsor's account gets whacked and we get screwed too. PPS is less when it comes to revenue per click - but a bird in the hand at this point is appropriate.

As far as pay per sign having a built in shave...isn't PMB starting a PPS program? :blink:

The very reason that PMB's pps program has been 'coming soon' for so long is that we have no intention of shaving...so it's very important that we feel that the processing environment is stable before we set a pps price point and launch the program. :)
