Mike,

Based on your previous post in another thread I've been inspired. Based on all the theft, corruption, and greed I've seen in this business who would rank in the tops of the biggest crooks on the net? Granted I'm sure everyone of us can name someone who's scammed a few thousand, but how about the million dollar crooks of the biz?

BTW, I can name at least 3 who've scammed in excess of 10k and are still working and prospering.

In no particular order.....the biggest scammers are:

1.) anyone with an affiliate program accepting traffic
2.) anyone sending traffic to an affiliate program.
3.) employees of the above 1 and 2
4.) Board whores
5.) Any owner of a webmaster resource
6.) Serge
7.) Anyone doing CC or Cheque processing.
8.) Anyone spamming either via mail, chatrooms, icq,IM or SE's
9.) anyone with a TGP or a builder of TGPs

Have I left anyone out? ;-))))

As I've said before,we are all whores the only variants are price and currency.

Show me a totally honest webmaster and I'll show you a pile of rocking horse shit!

Are we talking about people stealing from the surfers? ripping them off? Cramming their credit cards??

Or just webmasters fucking other webmasters?

One is where the REAL big money is at, the other is for petty thieves....

Nick you are very good at this, but it does not work for me....

I know you better, and your history.

Sure everyone accepts mail, and is mailing - but there are different levels of mailing. Sending targeted mail to processor lists and such one thing, sending out gazillions of harvested e-mails, including to children, pushing the type of sites you do.... well that is a whole other story.

The funny thing is, we both have a general idea where we stand in this business.... you have done things most people would never even consider - even during a long hard winter.... and what do you have to show for it?? ( remember this is me you are talking too - no need to puff up your net worth.... I know better)

Nick you really should become a barristar.... because you are a VERY talented advocate. Maybe a politican... I could see you in CNN Crossfire...

I have full respect for this - just not the way you do business.

Mike,

Not that I would expect you to tell me, but does any of your programs
shave?

Reason I ask is this:

If Joe is such a theif, why does he NOT shave, but actually ADDS signups?
Shaving is kindof petty compared to what the discussion is about here.
Im not saying in the past he hasnt done anything to anyone, and Im not
saying he did, just that he's not the bad guy you obviously think he is.

Then again, everyone knows him better than I do, so arguing isnt going
to do any good.

BTW, It wasnt just him, he had a partner you know.

But he definately gets at least a honorable mention in the Jesse James awards! :D

Now Voodoo I don't know if this was pre/post Joe's time at TCG but didn't JB openly admit on GFY that they had to shave to profit? There's a so called "shave" in everything, it's the nature of the beast no matter what you want to believe you'll never count 100% of the signups accurately, this is the net and abnormalities happen all the time. However in re. to what Mike is talking about the scamming of webmasters is really small time compared to some of the cramming/slamming that has happened in this biz.

I know you better, and your history

You don't know me LOL.

We have never met.

You may think you know me through a combination of public image and hearsay. But you don't know me. ;-)))

Sending targeted mail

Only mail I send.I do not send harvested emails.Frankly the 'heat' is not worth it.

pushing the type of sites you do.... well that is a whole other story

What sort of sites would those be?

I have only sent traffic in the last 6 mths to my own sites and those of trusted affiliates. All totally legal sites.

Though they may not meet your known high standards of pornography ;-))

If you are accusing me of sending mail to KP sites, we have a serious problem.I would like clarification of your veiled insinuation.

I have not and never would go down that route.

You see I do have morals.
My own.( note: morals may be subject to fluctuation)
Not yours.

And I do not hide behind a fascade of morality.

As for how well I've done....
I ain't starving and still process 6 figures a mth.Which if you make a KP allegation against me, I'll happily divert every penny of.

Heh ... I remember a few years ago when people were looking to exchange billing databases at a show, and straight up bill the people a second time. It was in Vegas. I was pretty shocked to hear people talking about that shit. Just outright theft.

Toolz, I think we were gambling or something when we overheard that one. You remember?

Now Voodoo I don't know if this was pre/post Joe's time at TCG but didn't JB openly admit on GFY that they had to shave to profit? There's a so called "shave" in everything, it's the nature of the beast no matter what you want to believe you'll never count 100% of the signups accurately, this is the net and abnormalities happen all the time. However in re. to what Mike is talking about the scamming of webmasters is really small time compared to some of the cramming/slamming that has happened in this biz.
Referring to shaving, Im talking about Ice Cold Cash, not TCG
Okay so was Joe still with TCG when the statement was made?[/b][/quote]
Toolz,

Of course one could argue that since
JoeE is still 50% Beneficiary, Fiduciary then
he would be 50% liable for it. But to answer
your question, NO, he wasnt.

Opti,Bex,

Sorry about that, I guess I have a twisted mind. ;-)))

I was just reading it as follows:

"swapping databases" = very immoral.
"gambling" = is considered by many very immoral and a vice.

So I thought it sounded a bit like...
"Remember when we were planning to rob that bank and over heard those scumbags talking about about whacking those guys"

or

"When I hacked that guys web site and found his emails planning rthat robbery"

ahhhhh fuck it....never mind...I guess its just me.

I'm easily amused.

I'm a crossbill away from becoming fully Kremened beyond all belief.

;-)))

Nick,

The way Bex and I gamble can be more akin to "Helping pay for the toliets in the hotel" Though the Venetian may seem like a big heartless corporation if we didn't stop in and donate money to them there'd be no where to expell all the free booze they give you, it's a vicious circle.

Yep, and, as we know, they probably won't be as long as they're still active since most folks are savvy enough to not burn bridges.

Will be interesting to see in three years time what names will be added to the list, as well as who will still be around to add them.

Biggest scammers in the biz over the past IMHO include CE, Aussies (including about everyone Cj has ever worked for), Crescent, Babenet, and many more.

Surpised several of these have not been mentioned yet.

Let us not forget Xpics...

IMO they, along with Crescent, are probably two of the companies whose actions are most responsible for the billing climate we're in today.

During the Xpics hay day newbies were flooding the net, and it was like shooting fish in a barrel to get them to cough up a credit card number for "free" access to porn. Xpics had slick ads, slick tours and once they had that credit card number they'd slam that bad boy every month until you cancelled the card itself in most cases.

I doubt they were the first to shave, but they definitely popularized it! What did they top out at? 20 cents per click? I dont know what their real formula was, but I do know that at the time there was no other banner or ad that you could put in their place that could make more money consistently. This despite the shave. The checks were large and they showed up every week.

And there-in pretty much the entire industry's human nature is exposed. Virtually everyone sent traffic to Xpics in those days, most continued to do so even after it was obvious what was going on. Human nature makes it tough to cut your own income by say 50% to pull their ads and replace them with someone more honest.

It was easy to rationalize. It wasn't like spam or beastiality or anything like that because the webmaster drew no heat. All they had to do was keep cashing those checks that showed up every week like clockwork. Easy to tell yourself, hey, i'm just selling them traffic, none of my business what they do with it!

only one of the 2 aussies i've worked for was a 'scammer', and that lasted about as long as your marriage will ... good to see you are paying attention ... I didn't realize you cared! :yowsa:

being more successful than you doesn't make someone a scammer - especially considering the things you do these days are the same as the things the aussies did years ago ...

there's plenty of things for you to attack *me* with brad, no need to bring other people into it that you know nothing about!! :okthumb:
