Los Angeles Bans Lap Dancing in Strip Clubs

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - You can look, but you can't touch or even get close any more.

That's the order that went out to patrons of strip clubs on Tuesday when Los Angeles City Council passed a measure requiring dancers to stay at least 6 feet away from customers, thus ending lap dancing in the city.

The ordinance, passed unanimously despite stiff opposition from strippers and adult club owners who fear for their livelihood, banned lap dancing and any other kind of bodily contact between dancers and customers in strip clubs, bikini bars and adult bookstores

Im surprised at this ruling, seeing how alot of people will stop
going to the strip clubs now.

I dont usually get lap dances,( ) but I would stop
going if I did like them, and couldnt get them anymore.

How stupid is this.... I have been to LA , they have MUCH larger problems to deal with then people getting lapdances!!

Missouri has a rule on "no physical contact".. But they are lenient on it...They have no problem when it comes to slipping the buck in the G string when the dancer is on stage.. But they do not allow physical contact when doing a lap dance...

so instead, they have "table dances"... and sometimes you would need a micrometer to measure the distance between the dancer and the customer.........

I don't think people really give a good god damn what goes on inside these clubs. The problem is that those who live near these clubs are getting the shitty end. People from the clubs are fucking in the locals' yards, alleys, and on the streets. They are noisy. The locals wake up to find piles of crap in their yards because the club visitors were too damn lazy to shit in the bathrooms. There are condoms all over the yards. Some locals have even found drunks asleep inside their cars. Young girls have been insulted and confronted outside the clubs.

The club owners have been warned. They have been told to clean up their acts. They didn't do it. Now, their businesses will suffer. TOO BAD! SO SAD! :nyanya:

Sounds more like a zoning problem to me.

Sue the city, but take away what fun us guys
can have away from our wife.

ZDM, you know how liberal the valley people are compared to other areas of Southern California, and the country. They don't call the San Fernando Valley, the hub of the porn industry for nothing.

When I first moved to Los Angeles, I was living in Hollywood. I was close to Sweetzer & SM Blvd. I was near a club. It reminded me of the Seinfeld show where the chicken place opened a store across the street and the lights were flickering on and off all night. Nobody could sleep, and the smell of greasy chicken was overwhelming.

People want peace in their homes and their businesses. When x-rated clubs do not control their customers, then shit happens.

I worked with an attorney who was a pilot. He parked his plane outside his office at a small LA airport. The city was getting lots of complaints from the locals. Many moved to the area after the airport was already built, but just the same, they complained to the city about noise and unsafe conditions at the airport. They wanted the airport closed down. Our lawfirm took the case for the pilots. It was a nasty fight.

These cases all have something in common. Noise! Disruption of a peaceful livable environment!

BYE BYE CLUBS! BYE BYE SHORT RECALL GOVERNOR ELECTION! :biglaugh:

WELCOME TO CALIFORNIA :rokk:

The ban only affects clubs within the city limits... the majority of the clubs
in the San Fernando valley will not be affected...
