The Republicans called me today.

They asked for a donation. They also asked me what I was more in favor of: permanent tax cuts or a ban on partial birth abortions.

They used the phrase "the liberals" at least a dozen times.

You're a good friend. If elected, I'll make sure there's a big tax cut for the top tax bracket for ya ;-)

I listened politely. I was interested to what their methodology and their pitch is. I worked for the Yale Alumni fund and wanted to see if if it was similar. It was the exact same methodology. They read scripted cards with responses, start at gift one and then if you say no, move down to the next giving level.

Interestingly, they started at only $100.

I'll let ya know if the Democrats call.

Fair to me would be if everyone pitched in the same amount every year - not the same %, the same amount ;-)

$7000/person? :-)

Sounds like a good deal to me.

They haven't called here yet. I can do what I like to the national ones, but I have to be polite to the locals - this town is small enough that someone in my girlfreind's family is probably married to whoever is calling. :D

A friend of mine came up with the perfect campaign slogan. I'm going to take care of my friends like any other politician but I don't have a lot of friends so it's going to cost you a lot less to elect me.

Went to a graduation party at the beginning of the summer for her niece and nephew and there were so many inlaws, outlaws, exlaws, and who the fuck knows what else, that I told her I needed a damn program to keep them straight.

pretty funny.

i was watching them show the water main that was blown up in Bagdad on BBC and it occured to me that there was non-stop referrences in the media to the shortage of services, electricity, water and so on... then as those things are restored, its not news worthy.
