View Full Version : Got a room at the Westin!
Peaches

Looks like the Westin is opening up. Right now, I have rooms at both the Westin and at the Holiday Inn.
So...do I want a noisy room, off the ocean, double beds, BUT non-smoking and near everything?
Or do I want a quiet room (save for the sounds emanating from the Don Johnson suite  ), on the ocean, king bed, BUT smoking and a block away (and not as nice a place).
I hate making decisions.
But if you're on the wait list, they're calling! :)

Peaches, i just called them
was told no rooms avalable at the Westing
i see Holiday Inn has been sold out as well
you might want to sell your room before you cancel it

Wow! Thanks for the info, Slav. :o
Where are these people coming from? All I read is about how the industry is dwindling, fewer people making money, etc. Now the Westin AND the Holiday Inn are full?

I'm on the phone now - complaining....and of course, they're asking me your name, lol! Like I have it, like I'd tell them - that's all I need is for them to give me YOUR room and tick you off. B)

Well, they swear they've had no ocean front rooms open up at all. <_<
But I'm on a "list" for one and instead of the usual 72 hour cancelation notice, they're giving me 48, so I have until tomorrow. B)
Anyone look into the OTHER Starwood Diplomat down the street from the Westin?
It looks SWEET.

That's one of my biggest worries. :( Last year I was tucked away on one of the top floors in a room at the end of the hall and it was STILL loud. :zoinks:
Dang - 10 years ago I would have paid DOUBLE to be near the action - I'm SO becoming an old fogie! :headwall:

If it's just a block away, the walk will be shorter than from your room at the Venetian to the showroom. B)
I think it all depends on if they can get me an ocean front room by tomorrow. If yes, I'll stay at the Westin. If not, then the HI. I'm not going all the way to FL and not be on the ocean.

The attendees will still come out. Even the TGP kiddies will scrape up a little beer money to spend if there's a big party in town.
Where you're going to see impact is on the show floor....and possibly even the big parties...or lack thereof.
The parties will go on, but alot more people will be buying their own drinks...

VERY, very true... I think this will definitely be an *interesting* show on many levels...
Peaches - glad you've got a room(s), last I saw you were unsure where you were staying. I agree - don't see how the whole damned thing sold out like that but someone mentioned a tech conference before ours and that maybe some were trying to "sneak in" and stay on at the hotel even though it was all supposed to be just ours. Maybe the Westin ferreted out the cheaters? lol
Anyway, glad people are getting rooms... would hate to see folks sleeping on benches by the beach. :yowsa:

I just let the Westin room go - today was the last day I could cancel and still (per them) no ocean front rooms available.
So I'll be at the HI, on the balcony, hopefully with some peace and quiet away from the 20 year old convention attendees sleeping 6 to a room. :awinky:

I have to admit, since my college years, I don't think I've never shared a hotel room with anyone that I wasn't having sex with, wasn't a blood relative of....or both. :nyanya:

I hope I get 6 20 year olds in my room.
I got the Miami vice theme already to play.
Anybody know where I can get a stuffed croc?
