my shorting account is down over 20% the past 3 months, but I should be able to make it all back as the market decline accelerates heading into august.

Keep putting all your money in biotech and companies that will "cure cancer", then see what happens over the next month or two.

These tech stocks have been run up so high that nothing can keep them propped up much longer: not Alan Greenspan, or good intel earnings report, or all of these companies beating "lowered expectations" in their earnings reports.

mattk,
worry not about me...

20% stocks,
20% junk bonds with 8-10% coupons
60% AAA bonds/CD's
I'll do fine WHERE EVER market goes
;-)))

I don't react on my predictions/emotions/opinions/etc and other "scientific hunches",

I only do MATH and my allocations are subject to how much income I need/project 5 years out
;-)))

you have to sweat your 20% loss and need lots of praying,
I don't
;-)))

if I can squeeze 5% a year from my portfolio -
I am happy,
if I can squeeze 6% a year -
I am extatic,
if I can squeeze 7% a year -
I send all my family members bonuses
;-)))

Diversified is good. You already made your $ so you should be more concerned with
capital preservation, not speculation.

sure I have to sweat the losses, and it keeps me on edge
but it makes winning weeks more enjoyable :bjump:

BTW I found a place to bet on the 2004 presidential election, check out this site:
Bet365 (http://www.bet365.com), click on "specials" in the left column.

current odds:

Republican Party 1/2 (-200)
Democratic Party 6/4 (+150)

the odds will probably even out as we get closer to the election, so if anyone wants to bet on the democrats, do it now.
