View Full Version : IQ Test debate.

I have 2 people in my office who are debating IQ, and ICQ tests.

Luke apparently was a member of MENSA at one time, and supposedly was tested at a 156 IQ. Buff thinks this is absurd, and cannot beleive that Luke could have a higher IQ then he does.

So we are looking to come to a settlement. We have a bet going between Luke and Buff to see which person has the highest IQ. We were going to get MENSA to send the test, but this may take to long, we want to know the results sooner.

Is there any place we can find a legit test, that we can use and score quickly to settle this bet?

The bet is that the loser has to pay for a night out, and wear a t-shirt with whatever the winner wants on it the entire night.

My money is on Luke, while he is a goof off - he did have the MENSA paperwork, and his daughter is very smart ( being moved up in school). Luke just burned up a lot of brain cells in a bong.....

I think someone should develop on formula that takes into account ones IQ and how much cash someone has made in business. Would be interesting to see who is dumb yet wealthy, and who has a high icq, yet can not make $50k a year (I know several people too intelligent for their own good).

Dan - Buff is a very bright person. He has a BS in Economics and History from Loyola. He is going to law school next semester.

If you would talk to each of the guys, and know their history you would think Buff would blow Luke out of the water IQ wise.

Sig, who is Buff's best friend, has alway said Buff was smarter then he is...

The problem with Buff is he is a goof, who loses interest quickly, and is very lazy.... not a good combination. Though he is working on it.

He is a natural porn start though - he loves people watching, and love to fuck....

Maybe we can get him with Asia Carerra to have smart porn! haha

Brad you bring up a good point. I do not think there is a direct coroolation between brains and $$$ at all. Though it does not hurt to be smart, being motivated and industrious is more important.

We were wondering if there is a corrolation between IQ and penis size....

I went to a school with a lot of high IQ people.. there is a lot of successes amongst them... but there is many more who found results came easy at school and they never learned how to strive to achieve.. and have never achieved. Lucky I was a dumbass who just got in by accident :P

Buff sounds like my son! :(

My ex was (is?) a member of Mensa, had a 4.0 at GA Tech (where he went with a full scholarship - academic and baseball), and scored 1590 on his SATS with a perfect math score.

He's a bartender in Atlantic City.

Common sense is what gives you the ability to survive outside the box, IMHO.

i think that measuring IQ means that you have to agree on what "intelligence" is first and what is the best way to measure it. there is more dissagreement than agreement about those two things.

i was a smart kid once, but got lost in the public school system.
plus i always put myself in the back of the class when i could instead of sitting up front where i should have been to see the blackboard. Than i had a very smart girlfriend that made me realize that i was smarter than i thought, made mostly right decisions in life and had right intuitions. My success in biz and other ventures confirmed a lot of that to me. Somewhere during that time i lost some of it to the THE bong and other unhealthy habits.

and now i'm just full of myself lol

i wouldn’t mind taking an IQ test, a real one.
from all the similar tests i've seen i can do pretty well on them, i think

I think the smartest people have an IQ of around 120...

The 150+ people are just plain stupid ;-))

There is a lot of correlation in results between different IQ tests, SATs, or any other standardized test or intelligence test. Someone who scores well on one tends to score high on others - whatever it is that is being measured.

There is enough correlation between such results that one can make broad general predictions. Someone with an SAT score of 1000 would probably perform poorly as a Harvard student. In aggregate, that is true. I don't believe there is enough differentiation (or maybe there is less) to predict that someone with an SAT of 1400 would outperform someone with a 1300. The same probably works for IQ test results with a weaker predictive ability.

All these written aptitude/math/english tests correlate with other such tests but maybe not a predictor of business acumen at all. The writers of the controversial "Bell Curve" showed that there is correspondance between income and IQ in general. This may be true in an average sense. People in the top IQ quintile average more income than those in the bottom quintile. It doesn't say anything though about whether Joe Blow with an IQ of 148 will make more than Joe Mama with an IQ of 108.

My point is that an IQ of 156 on just about every scale is so far toward the right hand limit of the curve that Luke would have one of those super brains. His intellect would be so stunning that all people in the office would talk about is how brilliant he is.

We're talking about the ability to make instant associations, see patterns, and generally cogitate at a level which few people on the planet can do.

And when we took that mensa practice test the other day, I got the first 6 right and Luke had missed 2 of the first 3. I'm just saying... he might be very very smart, maybe smarter than I am, but a 156? I'm thinking no way.

Why don't you just arm wrestle and settle it once and for all.

Unless you're going to tattoo your IQ on your forehead, your IQ is pointless. People make their own assessment of intelligence when they interact with eachother.

We have to pick on each other here at the office. It's in the employee handbook.
