keep screwing around with this guy and he is going to take everything down permenantly! i think that was a severe warning and a humbling experience.

now what if this guy or group of people decide to go down the list and take out ever site that is in a signature? worse yet, what if this guy knows how to blackhole sites? pretty scary thought and not one that is impossible as history has shown.

I think by now, over at gfy, Lens and company have it covered.... I am sure that there is a lot of between the boards, behind the wall yakking going on, perhaps some concerted efforts to id/report/shut down the responsible parties.....

i didnt say do nothing but the guy said to contact him and it is apparent that he wasnt contacted. no one is above anything and i do believe that people should start taking things seriously.

i am sure you kept track of all the latest childrens drama that went on over there with necro and genocide....either dont take on new members or dont think you are above replying to those who are seriously asking you to contact them.

i am thinking this little episode cost some people some money and when you play with numbers that big, you dont like to lose a dime. this is all obvious to everyone.

no one is untouchable from me to you to joe francis and beyond.

I wouldn't have contacted him either..... He threatens something, not much crime in that.... If you want to nail his ass, you have to let him do his best to do what he can....

You get to see what he has, you collect all the information you can get....

Then it's pay back time....

I firmly believe that you don't negotiate with extortionists....

And yeah, I saw the Necro shit... That was the posters on gfy's fault... If you are gonna go after someone for real, you don't go over and post on their boards that "we're gonna do this, and we're gonna do that and you better stop this shit..etc..." You report it and sit back and watch the isps and the proper authorities do their stuff... In the end, the ones taken down are not sure who took them down, who reported etc... That way there is no one to come back on....

In other words, the Necrobatics team was taking (in their minds) revenge directly against some wrongs done to them on gfy....

The proper reply to deepsy's posts was to not reply at all... Research should have been being done (and probably was). The threat should have been taken seriously (and probably was). But all you can really do in some of these cases is sit back and wait and see what happens... The threat was not clear... It did not state what sort of attack was planned, It turned out that it was a simple dos attack... Not much you can do about that until it starts and you can get a signature so that you can block it at the gateway... If it is a sophisticated dos attack you might have to do some sophisticated blocking... But, during it, you can gain a whole lot of invaluable information that allows you to nail the responsible party....

But to negotiate with the extortionist only leaves you open to more extortion later..... So, the guy managed to take down gfy and adult com for a while... That will cost Lens some money but in the long run, Lens and company have gained a lot of valuable information about thier network security and about their attacker and it would be my bet that their attacker will be toast, if not yet, then in the near future........

actually that was very well said and in thinking about it, maybe you're right about not contacting them. however, after seeing the board down yesterday (and i honestly thought it was another hun incident), security should have been looked at deeper from that point.

no one can say for sure if this guy has stopped, been tracked exactly or if he will start again. i do know that if this doesn't change some of the 3rd grade attitudes over there, then lens has his hands full for i am sure it could get a lot worse then this.

i, personally, won't post over there for a few days until things have quieted down. no reason to have my sites in the mix....lol. sometimes it's just worth it to step down :)
