View Full Version : Would you download knowledge to your brain?

If you could plug into a computer and download any knowledge you wanted so that you knew it more or less permanently, would you?
Would you feel like you were cheating? Getting something for nothing?
Would this be good for the human race?
knowledge like how to build a bomb with everyday cleaning supplies found in any kitchen?
i dont think there is evidence that "knowledge" has decreased fighting, wars and human suffering a whole lot in the last few hundred centuries. it seems that the benefits of knowledge are relative to the negatives and they move in proportion to each other.

Knowing my luck, the download would timeout halfway through......

Yes, anything.
Modules for mathematics, foreign languages, the complete works of Shakespeare, bomb-making. Anything you could find on the web.
would i have to ask John Ashcroft if its ok first?

This is the future. I would do it and I don't see it as cheating, it's information gathering. Who gets cheated?

Could I also download porn movies to my brain and watch them when I'm bored?
that would rock! ;-)

Like they did in the Matrix? Yeah, fun for some things. Other things are fun to just learn as well though, that is where the challenge is, learning.

There are certain things I'd like to download this way - math, some science, etc. but I enjoy the learning process with things I'm interested in/life experiences, so the download wouldn't do.
I'd love to be able to download info into OTHER people though, lol!
Yes I would
Knowledge is power
Power corrupts
Make me an evil fucker
Also I like Peaches idea
I would store as much information as would fit, starting with the unabridged dictionaries of every language, past and present, which were available.

I'm guessing that unlike Johnny Nemonic this data would actually be usable to us and not need to be dumped to make room for more? If so, I'd do it, though I guess my big problem with it would be that since I'm sure that it would be very expensive then the powerful would just be more powerful and that's a scary thought. Conversations at parties would probably be really boring too.

I would definately do it. Infact I was thinking about this issue just last night.... science will eventually learn how to manipulate the brain to do things like this....

That's one of the classic lines in a movie ever
My answer, abso-fucking-lutely ... hook me up to that machine for a week ...
teach me to do every martial art known to man, speak every foreign language possible, and a map of every discount shoe warehouse in the world ...
I can't imagine anything more amazing than meditating with all of that information ... imagine if you could learn anything you wanted just by plugging yourself into a machine ... no stress, no pressure, just the ability to live in your new mind completely confident that you can take on ANY challenge that comes your way ...
Colin, are you launching an affiliate program?! KnowledgeCash.com?! sign me up !! lol

The world's going to end one day anyway ... fuck it, lets party up the last years ... we've gone too far already to turn back now!

True. It was the delivery that really made it too.

Has any of you noticed that ignorant people seem to be happier, they have less to worry about because they don't understand the things they are supposed to be concerned about ;-)
I'd just download a bunch of porn, someone else can have the knowledge ;-))

After that I'd write a virus that uploads from the brain of the customer at the same time as it downloads. ;-)

"the skills required for competence often are the same skills necessary to recognize competence."
Someone please explain this to Forest. He's caught in the ignorance matrix.

that article got me thinking
do smart people surround themselves with dumb people to make themselves feel even smarter ? Kinda like fine chicks with ugly friends :D
Or do smart people have enough competence to know they can gain a lot more by being around people that are smarted than them ?
shit, i feel smarter already lol :biglaugh:

I would definitely NOT allow myself to be wired in.....
What are the guarantees of the quality of the information... What is to stop "agendas" from being implanted.....
The net result of this, imo, is that who ever controlled the download mechanism, controls the world.....
I would rather remain free and open minded and stupid than to end up with all the knowledge in the world but having given up my free will to attain it....
