MikieAI & CJ asking on Oprano FIRST!
Do you think if a webmaster could put up an audio clip [max 5 min recording] on a website this would be a useful marketing tool?
Nothing complicated, CJ you know the technology from the old OTR days. Ya pick up the phone, tallk and hang up, and the message posts to website within 30 seconds. No maintenance, the system handles it all.
All you got to do is make the call. The hardest part is getting somebody to do your call in's :-)
Any thoughts?

Ummm..pardon the ignorance here but...
What would be the difference between that and me hooking up my mike, recording a wave file and putting that up there ?

The only use in this industry would be getting a Porn star or phone sex person to talk over the lines. I could see it's use in the MLM websites though. All those guys like to do is talk talk talk (my father-in-law is big into it. he has a new pitch or phone call for me to listen to every week!)

I ngeneral, I hate it. However, the other I was surfing and this friendly female voice informed me of some mainstream product and that was very informative. I liked that.
Won't be long untill the internet is just liek tv anyway. 5 years maybe?

Welp, you have to have access to a sound mike. If you wanted a girl to do it from another location and she did not have a sound mic, it would be a hassle for her to record.
This way, you dial a number and anyone from any place can call your message in, can update the site via a cell phone should you be away from the office etc. Getting the recording done is not "office dependent".
There are other features as well, the listener can have the message emailed to them, there is an archive online of all messages, comments can be given by the surfer [feedback] etc..
Surfers like audio stories, and its real easy to create this content and recruit voice models since they record using a phone.
Over the years are audio stories not of interest these days?
MLM, is that the "multi level marketing"?

ok, I see what you mean now.....
thanx...
Lee, I loved the technology, and I think you used it in a perfect format, but it could be used in so many more ways ...
picture this opranauts ...
you are scrolling through oprano, only the posts are audio messages ... jr can call up and call raw alex a moron, and we could refresh and watch/listen to new messages be added to the 'board' ...
the way it used to be set up was that the text links to the audio stream would display in a list like a chat board ... really simple to navigate

Sharky, there's lots of uses in this industry ...
1) Personals sites, record a message on the internet just like on those cheesy phone lines that are advertised after midnight.
2) Amateur sites, live cam sites, live feeds etc, have the girls call up the phone line at random times and leave messages for the 'members' ...
3) Allowing members of a website (or fans of a pornstar) to call up the number and record a message for their favorite model.
4) Audio guestbook for ANY kind of website ...
The only way i don't see it working is as a voice ad on a website ... although i love the technology of having multimedia blasting from my computer, it gives me the shiznits usually.

I agree with CJ, I think there could be some fresh uses with it....
IN general sound, especially sound a surfer is not prepaired for can be startling and annoying....
So it would have to be done the right way....

Nothing wrong with opportunities for the phone sex angle imho. Particularly when on that type of site the customer is hot to use the phone anyway.
Lee, does your model have a way to charge visitors leaving voice messages?
An easy interactivity plugin is always attractive to free site builders, particularly if you build a revenue earner into it but adult is not the best target market imho.. I would be trying to design something to target blog users and something else to compete directly with that "Live Help" product I see everywhere and maybe something exisitng dating sites might want to add for their users as an extra service. I am assuming you can make good profits on telco charges for endusers dialing into your "gateway"
Are you limited to voice files? A lot of people have MM cell phones now, thats a big market, wouldn't mind being first out with a killer app for those users

Geeze - it's hard enough to READ Serge's English, now we're supposed to listen to it and understand what he's saying? :headwall:

I didn't like the idea at first but I'm warming up to it with this example.

Years ago I had a short welcome audio on Fetish Network- Some people loved it, others hates it. I know that a lot of people logon from work or turn sound off at home from prying ears.
We brought audio back but only as stories/fantasies. We do really well with it. It's definately a huge draw to our sites.
Also check out www.keen.com - See their recorded advice. People can upload a .wav or call in and record directly into the system. This type of audiotext requires special programming but it definately can be done. I often wondered why more sites didn't offer audio, especially since phone sex was so big and is still a good market...especially in niche.
CJ I bet audio fantasies and stories on your women's sites would so really well.
i think that anything that increases or enhances interactivity is a plus. but i think its like flash... it has to be used responsibly and it has to be a choice... otherwise people will just click "skip intro" out of spite.

Exactly, this is what our system does, you call in, record, play it back, save it or re-do it, once ya hang up it auto posts in 30 seconds.
The sound does not fire off unless somebody clicks on the message to play it, nothing is worse than hitting a website with music playing, very ANNOYING.
We developed this all back in 1998, CJ can tell ya.
5 years have gone by all the voice competition went Dot bomb, and it has not been overly played out and over exposed.
Just trying to see if there is a small market for it now in the adult world.
Great feedback, and thanks!
Problem with "has beens", is we know the way back if we choose to :-)

Could create some embarrassing situations for people who surf from office cubicles.
The office worker may have his PC setup so that he can see people coming before they can see his screen but if some porn star starts screaming through the office.... ;-))

LMAO

although that would be good for laughs, you have to actually click on a link to hear the audio ... i think the title misled us into discussing 'voice ads on websites' instead of what this software actually is ...

exactly
lots of different applications for this product and i've been waiting for 5 years to see it put into use by a company that could justify the additional development needed to use it in a specific application.
lee, do you have a running version anywhere? old otr server? any place at all that we can use it? can it be set up on one of my servers as a demo? any suggestions of how we can show how this works?!

If used correctly, audio is fantastic. As pointed out, arriving on a new site and hearing blasting voices, music, etc. is very disturbing. Being able to click on an audio tape adds a new dimension.
Lee, your site use to have a program where you could add your audio comments. The sound was great. It was easy to use. Why did you take it down? It needed more time to catch the attention of the webmasters. :rokk:

Hi CJ and Sin, we have this voice tech in use on a mainstream site. Would share the site but there are reasons why I will not...its not Oprano I shun, its some of the silent readers who may reak havoc on the site and just be malicious.
Tell ya what, I will bring the voice back in one of my websites prolly next week or so, and then you all can play with it, and then we can go from here.
AVN had a list of all the single model websites, maybe they would be interested in creating their own content. Asia loved the idea except she hates the sound of her own voice :(
I think webmasters may be ready for it, or maybe some websites, dunno. I hope so, its shame its sitting dorment.
Your right CJ the topic title was misleading, thanks for the re-focus :-)

I can't wait to play with this software again ;-)))))
(good move not posting the mainstream version, i doubt you'd be able to control us on a mainstream site - i have lost my inbuilt swear word censor) :biglaugh:

It is so easy, grab your cell and go to:
http://www.leenoga.com and go do a test message and play it back. We are going to privately offer it to models and pornstar sites for their members area to create and manage their own content via our tools. You can record up to a 5 min message and thats a long time when your the one doing it.
Go to a demo, it will explain itself, you will see the power and ease :-)
