Paying hundreds of dollars for ICQ numbers (http://www.vipuins.com/). What next? Paying money for pieces of cardboard with pictures of baseball players on them?

(This item is a 6 digits easy-to-remember ICQ number (#183818). Especailly for Chinese because it is also a very lucky number (Three '8' within the number)

Does the silence mean that everyone else thinks this is as stupid as I do?

It's stupid but obviously people want them. Did Lee Noga ever get hers back?

Does anyone know if ICQ is doing any special security measure to keep this from happening? I'd hate to loose mine. I've had it forever and everyone finds me this way.

I'm going to buy low ICQ numbers and give them to people as XMas gifts.

What else do you give people who already have everything?

i can remember my uin(8 digits) 11034792 much easier than most phone numbers, i don't see the big problem, maybe if there were 13 digits i'd think differently. i wouldn't buy one.

then again.. 5-6 digit uin's might be good for some companies support systems.. but yeah.. - my first post on this board, hi all! :agrin:

I haven't used ICQ in years. One of my old numbers is still active. 1727594

That must be from 4 or 5 years ago. How would I get the password?

Someone can have it if they have know and want it. I don't need it.

Yep...ICQ sucks but I have so many contacts on there I do not want to lose.

Has anyone had any problems with adding people to your ICQ list? Here recently it will not let me add anyone. I am wondering if anyone else is having this problem.

Yes, I did get mine back and its not because ICQ support are worth anything.

The key to ICQ is the email address, if you lost control over the email you used to register ICQ, its subject to being seized, thats what happend in my case.

However the old dial up email service is in my city, and I was able to get them to terminate the new owners based on the registration being all fraudalent info, and re-assign it back to me. Once I got that email back ICQ auto sent me the password the thief set up and was able to take it back.

My number is: 111472, he was asking $300 for me to buy it back.

I agree....I had the same problem with ICQ a few months back - it seems there's a limit on how many contacts you can have. I cut some of the "dead ones" off the list (anyone I hadn't contacted in a year or more) and it worked.

I also started using Trillian awhile back to merge ICQ with Yahoo!, AIM and MSN....I had a little trouble with it about a month back but once again a little housecleaning in my lists and voila! it's working just fine.

It actually seems to suck up LESS resources than plain ICQ alone. Don't know why...but I get less trouble with slowdowns, etc. when I have a million programs opened.
