Picked up "Age of Empires" but it's a yawner. It's no Civ III, that's for sure.

Any recommendations? I usually like epic strategy games but killing is good too. Don't like racing games.

If you've never played command and conquer, it's very addictive and i think there are like 15 versions out now.

I prefer Civilization III myself. Don't always have to have combat to win and take a variety of paths to victory.

If you were dissapointed by Age of Empires try Microsoft Rise of Nations http://www.gamespy.com/games/3804.shtml Try the demo and you will be rushing to the store. Decent solo play and multiplayer looks fun, although I've been too busy to try it out. Much better play than Age of Empires.

Also the Mediaval: Total War is one of the best games I've ever played. Currently there's an add-on Viking Invasion that's decent http://www.gamespy.com/games/3127.shtml Strategic turn based game using Europe Dark Ages regional maps and real time 3D army tactical combat using realistic battle conditions with armies up to 10,000 units all organized and with individual ability AI. Very cool.
