Back in the days when Michael was at topniche and it was a password site, I was there. But I can't for the life of me remember who told me about ynotpondniche (or whatever it was then, hehehe).

Mike made mention of it or someone did on Netpond about ynottopond or whatever its name was. The rest as they say is History.

I found it way back when I was working for ODC...

I found all the various boards by finding a board and then following links all over the frigging place....

It was all in the name of research :)

I do not know the various paths I used to get places... Usually just started with a google or Yahoo search and then went from there....

I lurked all the boards back then and hardly ever posted anything....

After ODC I was off the bopards for a while, then slowly started getting back in...

I found you again when all the folks came over from VNWR to wish you a happy 100,000th post I think....

Serge, you and Mike announced the opening of Oprano in your Netpond posts. Soon after this happened, you flew off to Europe, and Meat said you were trying to shut down Netpond from a mysterious source in Bulgaria or Russia.

Remember this Mike???? The good ole days!

Mike

Circumstansces...everyone knows its personal with Serge and I, you know
full well that how I have no time or patience with how he likes to do
business...

His reverse phsycology lines of crap about how he used to cheat everyone
dont work with me, and suprises me it does in fact work at all...

Im not insinuating anything at all regarding the presents, I just pointed
out that we HAVE been getting some presents over the last 2 weeks...

We traced the first to a bot in Russia

We traced the second to somewhere in Nice France

Im sure its purely coincidental that Serge is currently visting Nice in
France and allways brags about his Russian webmaster friends and I know he
would never stoop to something this LOW.

I most definatly wasnt pointing fingers thats for sure:)

You will need luck simply because he is your partner thats all I meant:)

Maybe I am sick, but I enjoyed the battles between Oprano and Netpond. GFY hadn't quite gotten off the ground two years ago, and Oprano was the hot board.....an untreaded board, I might add. Everywhere you look there are threaded boards. I'm still stuck in a time warp, because I enjoyed the old boards. Sure, I've gotten use to all the changes, but certain webmasters became known because of the un-threaded boards.

I'm looking forward to what Robin will do with Oprano. I hope you are going to give him a lot of freedom. Go Robin! :bjump: :bjump: :bjump:

MikeAI couldn't find many with balls/brains (or maybe stupidity) to debate with him on various issues so if I recalled correctly Mike and Billy started ynottoppond for fun (just look at the name) and to have a place to express some issues with no BS and nothing owed to sponsors who might be "questionable" (much like the current Oprano)

A lot of Ynottoppond was Billy, Mike, Don of Onique and a few others (maybe Dravek) and Billy and I spent a lot of time talking about the sewer/drainage systems of NO and even more time about food

From there Serge was in the position to move from a regular poster at Netpond (he may have had some ideas that might not have been well received by the new owners of Netpond, I wasn't the fly on the wall so I can't say truthfully)

Serge then paired with Mike and ...... Oprano was born and history was made

The name Oprano was choose partially because how easily it rolled off the tongue, obviously there were other reasons

How did I get here .... from being a ynottoppond regular and friendships with Mike, Billy and Serge and wanting to be a little fish in the big pond

Little fish in big ponds feed better than big fish in little ponds

Now you know how I got here and some of my take on the Oprano story
Aren't you sorry you asked? B)

Oprano should get to $5000 a month in about 3 years, so we are on the right track!

whatever happened to the ...

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and a finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

How are they converting for you? Any plans for a PPS program?

Thanks for the priase on the sites. They are converting realy well. We will probably do a PPS program but we can only really go to $25 per sign up at first with CCBill doing the checks. We dont use any consoles so the surfer can return easy to the site they left. We are going to be continually optimising the tours over the next few months plus adding another 6 sites, one per week starting tomorrow. They will all be in that style as it seems to be doing well.

Mike AI

BBR - I think a fair $25 per signup can be done right. Especially if you are not charging and arm and a leg to the surfer ( and without exit consoles).

When you do a $25 PPS, let me know, we can send you some traffic!

I thought $25 was fair with no consoles. Flynt Digital do the same. The great thing is that we can do it via the CCBill system and not run at a loss.

Thanks for the help! BTW are you mates with KC from paycounter? Also did you write the script for DirectNic (and own the company).

BBR, KC is a good friend of mine.

I do own a small part of DirectNIC, though I have no day to day contact over there....

And I could barely program back in the BASIC days.... luckily for DirectNIC, we have an amazing team of programers....

I started posting in January after seeing the lovely Lady Law & Serge @ Internext....and Suze promised me totally immunity and protection from the evils that lurked here...lol

Now - of course - I know and love most of the evils who lurk here and am happy to call this a home away from home...

How did I find out about it??? An asshole that I used to know showed me the site and said, "Look what Serge is doing now...tisk tisk tisk..." Realizing much later that this person was indeed an asshole I decided that anything they didn't like MUST be something good. I became an avid lurker that same day...

But ultimate thanks goes to Suze for getting me to post! :wnw:

cj -

It probably wouldn't take too many guesses... Fortunately I've been blessed with a great group of friends, a large influence of respectable aquaintances and only a small dose of assholes. That narrows things down quite a bit. lol

But hey, to quote my favorite saying, "everything is educational." We are the sum of all our experiences - the good and the bad. Even the assholes can teach us in their own special way...

I think the assholes are more valuable ... they make us appreciate those who aren't ;-)
