I want to go back to school and take some courses - not to get a degree, but just to learn some things. So I ordered my college transcript from 1979-1981. :zoinks:

There is NO WAY I even showed up for classes! I made a freaking D in English Composition - that's my best subject!! I was only 17 when I started, but STILL. I can't believe I was such an incredibly crappy student.

The only A I made was in Anthropology because the teacher told us the first day that no one would make an A in that class...I do so much better if I'm challenged. :awinky:

Needless to say I'm hiding this transcript from the kid I harassed for doing so poorly in school, hehe. Then again, I was paying $1500 a year for tuition, room and board where his was $20K a year. Yep, that's how I'm gonna rationalize it..... :nyanya:

What classes are you taking?

I want to take Business Law, Accounting, Ebusiness, a basic computer class, a real estate class and possibly look into medical coding. I'd also like to take a religion and a history class.

1979-1981 Prices:
Loaf of bread - $0.30
New Car - >$10,000
Pack of Cigarettes - >$1.50
Pound of coffee >$3.00 (and it was a pound, not 12 oz).

Just trying to cheer you up some ... :D

LOL!

IIRC, I had the same problem in that class as I did in HS English: When I wrote papers, they wanted outlines, bibliographies, foot notes, etc. But I had trouble with the mechanics. I can sit down and write a paper w/ no problem though. I always got A's on the content of the paper and F's on everything else I was supposed to turn in and either didn't, or BS'd it so poorly that it was obvious I hadn't done the stuff. :(

Hiya Peaches,

You could buy some textbooks and read them. Business Law and Accounting are pretty straightforward. My professors always went right from the book and going to class wasn't really necessary.

I know I've got some old accounting textbooks buried up in the attic somewhere... hahaha

Anyone know which FASB pronouncement they're up to these days? FASB 104 was the newest thing when I was graduating... :barfon:

Pretty straightforward maybe to YOU....but I'm numerically dyslexic - I can barely balance my checkbook, let alone teach myself accounting. :(

The kid has a business law book, but his teacher was a retired FBI guy and he said there was a lot of "non standard" things he covered that weren't in the book.

Plus, how am I supposed to pick up young college guys if I'm at home learning from a book??!! :awinky:

Structure helps a lot. Even though I consider myself largely self-educated (learned more out of school than in), I learned a lot more physics in 4 years of college than I learned by myself the rest of my life.

Unless you are the completely driven type everyone has at least a semester they can look back on and go "WTF was I doing?"
