My girlfriend's son called from San Diego last night; he's been back home from Iraq four about four days now. They were apparently in the thick of it during the Baghdad/Tikrit portion of things, but he and all of his company are fine (one of his guys had some minor shrapnel wounds to one arm). Almost all of his guys are back, except a few who get the privilege of supervising the packing of the equipment and riding the ship home with it.

My girlfriend (and I, for that matter) was very touched by the expressions of support and for her I got from webmasters on the various boards. (I guess she assumed that ALL webmasters are assholes since the one she lives with is :D ). Anyway, she wanted me to thank those of you who sent good wishes, protective vibes, and prayers to {your deity here} going his way.

Shake his hand, pat him on the back, tell him "Thanks and Welcome Back"; and buy him a beer (or a flock of them!)!

Glad to hear he made it home safe! :rokk:

We have a Marine family at the end of the block who had yellow ribbons all over every tree, lamp post - you name it! Until....last week they put up a HUGE Welcome Home sign - all the neighbors signed it. Then they filled the yard and front porch with red, white and blue balloons. VERY cool Home Coming! The whole block celebrated with them!

Coming home safe is a good thing.... :salute:
