View Full Version : Do we Opranites need to change?

Given our knowledge of each other we can all, to within a pretty narrow window, predict what each other responses will be to the CIA's upcoming presentation of theunderlying intelligence which was the basis (http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/meast/06/02/sprj.irq.wmd.us.intel/index.html) for Colin Powell's UN presentation.

We can do this even though we don't even know yet what the evidence is. Wouldn't we be more enlightened as a group if we couldn't do this? Maybe we need to change.

Colin, I doubt there will be any real "bombs" - the press has been reporting for weeks about lack of evidence, their have been leaks etc....

There really is no more big news anymore - everything comes out well before hand - as trial ballons and such.

This is news that is controled by Politicians, and not weather, or terrorist attacks, or things politicans cannot control.

if they ask me,
I'd tell tehm:
Iraq DID have WMD which were destroyed in the face of advancing US troops, burned with no trace!

I think that if someone's opinion is going to be changed by some report that comes out June 2003 then that person hasn't been paying attention in the previous months / years.

Then again, there's always some softy turn-the-other-cheek terrorist huggers that will oppose the use of force no matter what the circumstances.

A legal defense is often built on a series of arguements - my client didn't do the crime, but if he did do the crime he didn't know it was a crime, and if he did know it was a crime he was provoked to do it, and if he wasn't provoked to do it do it his mother made him do it.

There have been enough arguements presented to various and sundry arguements by the Bushites and their bobble-headed chorus to have virtually all the bases covered regardless of what any conclusions any investigation uncovers.

The rite-thinkin 'merikins will probably flat out state that deception was justified since beloved leader knows what's best for their narrow-minded version of 'merika and their 19th century outlook on international relations.

The folks with the "Bonanza" mentality (everybody either wears a black hat or a white hat) will still fail to understand that one can question the honesty of the reasons for the war in Iraq without being a terrorist-hugger.

The in-ty-lektuls will post logically-flawed disertations that really contain nothing than the above, with some clever ways of calling anyone who disagrees with the party line whiners, or who lack the life experiences to understand the reasons that it was necessary for the emporor to declare his suit the grandest in the land.

The pseudopithy will simply insult the "GFY-like" intelligence of anyone not spouting the arguement dujour offered in justification of the war with a GFY-style personal attack.

I was going to put an empty post here, as it seemed the best answer to this thread, but the board wouldn't let me do it. Ah, well.

Just pretend I put some Gordon Lightfoot lyrics here in that case.

Because THEY know the sound of an empty post clapping and know it's not pretty.
