once innovator is always an innovator and we expect NEW things Robin
is known for,
and as always,
Opranoids will be the FIRST to know what's shakin'!

Thankyou Serge for giving me this excellent opportunity to return to the Internet in style :)

Many of you will not know who I am - so I'll do my best to introduce myself to you over the next few days and weeks. For others I'm sure my name is a blast from the past you didn't expect to see ;)

I'm sure we'll be discussing all sorts of things but to field the first questions I am anticipating... For the last 3 years I've been running public houses and hotels in England with Julie. It's been fun but with 2 pubs and a hotel we never got much chance to see the kids - let alone sleep!

So - we started selling up at the start of the year and by amazing coincidence - just when I was looking at what options I had for returning to the Internet I was given the opportunity to apply for this postion with Oprano - thanks guys for choosing me!

So - what's in store? Well, I have a few ideas that have been germinating these last few years - I hope you like them when they're ready - but really it's up to you - do you have any ideas, wishes or suggestions for what I can do to help continue to improve Oprano.

It's going to be a pretty big task to try and fill Mutt's shoes here - but I'll do my best.

Cheers everyone!

- Robin.

Holy shit!
Talk about a blast from the past...last time I saw you Robin was during the David Lee Roth show at Internext a couple years ago...

Oddly enough, I just got a spam the other day for the tld type site similar to what you did with TLDNS...my first "big" design job, heheheeh

My favorite of the Nixon inventions was the hit casino where you could gamble your hits....ah, back in the days when I actually had some traffic ;)))

Guys -

do a little research on the history of the adult net.. You will find Robins name in just about every imortant innovation up until 1998-99,..

abc web
eureka
sexplosion
hit casino
and many more i am missing...

Robin.. You will be the person to bring a lot of the "old guys" back to posting on boards... It was always a pleasure chatting with you.. You are a true gentleman, and I appreciate everything you have done for me and taught me in the past.
Our long conversations about sexplosion taught me a ton about UNIX and DNS:-)

Robin Nixon
06-02-2003, 11:55 AM
Wow - thanks for all the kind words from everyone - it feels really good to be back - a big hello to you all!

My official start will be on Monday June 16th but I'm getting into the swing straight away to try to get fully up to speed.

Some people have asked why am I working with Oprano now? The simple answer is this is one of the top meeting places for the business and also my business relationship with Serge goes back to the mid 90s when I first got on the Internet, and having no content of my own I hotlinked all of Serge's pics I could find. He then emailed me threatening to replace all the pics with death threats to the queen and supporting the IRA. So yeah, we got off to a great start ;) And I learned to go out and get my own content :)

Anyway, I've worked in different ways with many of you here and can honestly say it's a damn site more fun than the Pub and Hotel games (although I did quite well in them - it was just pretty knackering)! So I am really looking forward to what we can do in the future on the web.

Of course, I have a few ideas which I think are original and may stir things up a little ;) But I'd also like to hear from anyone here who has ideas for improvements that could be made to Oprano. Or new programs that Oprano could offer to benefit it's participants. Or do you have a good idea you are sure will work but don't have the resources to get it off the ground yourself? Maybe we can help.

So please get in touch and everything you say will be carefully considered (good, bad or indifferent ;)

Cheers!

- Robin.
