So, AOL which controls much of the media delivery systems and Microsoft which controls much of the software will be working together...
Is this good for us or bad for us... and why ?

I dont see an impact at this point.
What's basically happening here is Microsoft is paying off AOL for killing Netscape.
This may deal a death blow to Mozilla as many of the Mozilla developers are Netscape employees still working for AOL. This deal essentially kills any possibly need for Mozilla that AOL ever had.
No impact there though as Netscape has been a non-factor for several years now. Their marketshare is under 5%.
On the positive side, this probably puts us a lot closer to all of the various IM clients finally talking to each other.

Whats good for the Corporations is good for America eh ?? or in this case, The World ???
Could be, but it also could be an eventual attempt to control the media of the world...
Aol already owns more than it's share of Media...
Microsoft already controls more than it's share of the software...
The plan (according to the announcement) is for AOL to provide content and Microsoft to provide the delivery system....
From my point of view, this will be (if successful) a direct challenge to Cable and over the air media, not to mention CD stores, stereo outlets, the whole gamut....

This is going to suck.....Explorer is a piece of shit....being the hardcore Netscape user I am, I love not having to worry about homepage jackings and email worms (outlook, what a piece of crap)...I'm not anti-Microsoft, I just hate their browser....Netscape 7 is actually pretty good (especially the tabbed browsing featuer ala Opera) and I've yet to have the problems I always seem to have with explorer (though in the past, this was usually due to lousy/lazy coders)

i would think AOL would be the biggest winner here.
this is probably not the agreement, but if AOL and MS will be working together i see MS not going after AOL's costumer base and users and aggressively as they have been.
Up until recently MSN was giving incentives to AOL users to switch over

I think it was a way for AOL to make some quick cash....
How much did they buy Netscape for? I have a feeling it was less then what they got for the lawsuit....
Its like what that video company is trying to do, buy technology, or patents or lawsuits and turn it into a business plan....

Yes they probably got more for the lawsuit :)
But the agreement also calls for lots of partnering.... AOL getting a hold of IE and WMP technology....
So, just what will ACACIA do about this one?...lololol.... Lets see them send MS and AOL C&E's.....
