Brisbane spawns kings of Net porn
Ryan Heffernan and David Murray
24may03

IN the cyber-world where sex reigns, a handful of young Brisbane men reached international dominance and made millions.

Only the New York-based mafia is believed by the global sex industry to have extracted more cash from selling porn on the Internet.

The courier mail seems to love writing about the adventures of Scott & Greg.

Should be an interesting read when I pick the paper up at lunch :)

Thanks for scanning that, cj! Very interesting read! Dumb question - why is everything quoted in US$?

cj

Because almost all online business is done in us dollars in this country ... it wouldn't be possible to quote accurate figures in australian dollars due to changing conversion rates & the wide time frame they are writing about ... instead of saying a million us dollars it would be $aud1 847 624.09 (or something) lol

Hi Guys,

I'm new to the board here.

What I do not understand is why the Courier Mail reruns the same story about the "Mafia " every six to twelve months with a few little changes to it.

I mean It must sell a lot of papers for them or something.

As for the alledged 1000 Adult Webmasters operating in Brisbane after reading the story I'd reckon the amount of newbies to hit the scene will skyrocket.

Is the Courier Mail the number one Tool for finding Adult Webmaster Newbies in BrisVegas or what ?.

I think Scott and Greg using this newspaper as a free classified ad
;-)))

:D

I have to agree with that 100% now that two full page stories in 12 months they have had free .

Now if those reporters were smart they could have dropped in some webmaster referer codes into the online Story page .
A golden oppertunity missed

:D

George

BTW what sites do they have to promote ?.

I'm on the lookout for new sponsors with fresh content..

does greg have anything to do with sharedearnings.com?
also.....did he end up selling that block up on kangaroo point?
quite a view......im not too sure about that new mormon temple next door though  i could think of better ways for a church to spend money than on a granite palace.

Lets not forget the General, Dean Shannon even tho he exited the industry, he was quite the Aussie in the early days with Intergal.

1) yes
2) no idea, but i don't think so
3) fucking oath! what the hell is that thing?! could they make it any bigger and use any more marble?! typical 'church of latter day saints' or whatever bullshit it is ...it doesn't even have a great view as its slightly lower than the road.

George, its a game ... when people start to forget about a certain pornographer he needs to remind them who he is. And I'd make an educated guess that this was a game for him to get Jon's face in the paper to stir shit for the court case. There's only 1 brisbane webmaster who wants that much attention, and it isn't jon scott or dean.

The media knows they'll sell papers because the public loves stories about fast cars, fast women & fast money.

Lee, he is mentioned in the article, but for once the correct impression was given. Trust me when i say that you can't pile him in with the other guys in this city.

Ok Cj thanks for pointing it out, I don't know any of the guys involved so I really have no ability to read between the lines here.

One things is for sure,I was on www.adultwebmasters.com.au earlier and there was over 290 Visitors reading the forums,I'd guess many of them had read the story and searched for adultwebmaster in the hope it would make them instant Millionares in the blink of an eye

I was around back in the 90's but unfortunately I did not know anyone actively involved and had an inherent distrust of the Webmaster programs as well as that the only adult host I could find was Flying Crocodile and the prices were way out of my reach. The rest as they say is history.

Thats for sure, I was asked by at least 20 people today how hard it is to build Adult Websites :D

Unfortunately I could not help them as I don't know the first thing about the adult industry apart from those "Stories" you read .

Well the stories and those mysterious US Checks that appear in my mailbox every so often but they don't need to know that....

:biglaugh:

One thing is for sure judging by the interest generated by the story Greg certainly knows how to make headlines.
I'll bet he's having a good laugh over the whole fiasco..
