Looks like they are all dead, and are no longer in webmaster area....
Wonder if attorneys finally caught up with them....

What is the deal with Celeb sites?
We've had some webmasters wanting to add their celeb sites to Swoit, but sofar we've turned them away.. I dont have a solid reason as such but I always knew they were a 'grey area'.. :zoinks:
Can anyone shed any light!!
thanks
Steve

Steve there are numerous issues.... the biggest are copyright issues ( who owns the photos, who is the photographers, or the film companies who owns the films the clips are taken from)
Then there is the issue of the right of exploitation... Celebs and other famous people have to be compesnated when their images are used. They have to be contracted ( model release) to use their images...
The people who run the celeb sites have all kinds of excuses, but they are primarily fiction...
From what I understand it is Norm Zedah suing them under the RICO act...

I've always wondered about online sites because of the mags like Celebrity Skin and such that have been around for ages.

I can see it now. Serge in his red speedo with the party goat!! 1:1 conversions and the next gold rush for webmasters as they promote the best converting and eventually the biggest program on the net!

I have also been told CEN shut down their celeb sites, and that even Silvercash has made some changes....

Fortunately, we haven't had the pleasure of any lawyers calling on us about our celeb sites but we did feel some of the heat. We felt that our celeb sites were getting a little too much exposure after it was featured on some Australian tv show. We decided to take them down from our webmaster area until we felt it was safe to come out and play. They are still up and running but we're going to play it safe for a while. If you really want to promote them I can still help you out. Hit me up on icq or email me and we can discuss the details. That goes for anyone on this board.
