Lookie MikieAI, caught me a snook on Sunday in a little cove off the causeway running the inlet out to the ocean.

26.5 inches, 7 pounds.

To me he was large, but if he was 3/4 inch smaller would have had to throw it back for being to small to keep, they got to be 26-34 inches. Season closes June-Aug, so what a thrill.

We fried him and wow, it was great!

How was your fishing weekend?

Here is the pic link below:

Forest, show some fishing pics of yourself and your bounty.

I doubt you have a 4 1/2 foot snook in your backyard unless its made of stone and sometimes referred to as a water fountain.

I love it when you follow me around the boards, gives you a reason to post.

I :inlove: you Forest.

Ya know Lee he just might have a 4 footer back there in that brackish pond behind it house. I grew up around in those parts. It's right over by Aventura and Greynolds Park (Is that how you spell that?) ... anyhow, there are a few small lakes that feed into the intercostal over there. They hord back there all the time. A bunch of old timers know about those spots but now they have private homes all around and only a certain size boat can get back there.

Forest is that lake back there considered private and part of an association?

The best snook fishing in Florida is west and south of everglades city around all those bays and islands.

I agree, MacDaddy could be lurking and he sounds as if he knows he would be a trophy, and he has probably been caught and has to be released, I think Snook can live 20 years?

We take the intercoastal way in Central florida and can pop out into the ocean at Ponce Inlet. We have alot of channels that branch of the coastal way and thats where I found this little closed in 1/2 mile circular cove.

Some nice pompano were coming out of there as well.

I was trying to catch a redfish which is one of my favorites, and the Snook hit me instead under the mangrove bushes up against the shoreline. He took me out quite a way, and I really thought I had a bull red on the line.

Im glad I live 30 miles from the ocean but wish I had bought a home on the water with a dock....I could do that now, but the hassle factor of moving turns me off, just spent 1.5 years restoring the inside from the flood, and I over being a home owner for now. Got this place the way I like it finally.

S. Florida is Snook capital, and the further you go up the coast the more scarce the snook are to hook up. In Volusia County we can catch snook up until June, in some counties they stopped May 1.

How is shrimping down there? We are running out of time, this week is prob the last run, they are thick as carpets on outgoing tide but tonight they won't run until 2AM......I am thinking about it tho...

Shrimping was great this year, or so I heard. I know I ate a bunch of them. Lee I must be honest that I don't know that much about it. I'd love to learn. Can you teach me? maybe next season.

I love snook. The last 6 months I've been really busy. First moving out to my farm then my mom being sick. Things are starting to free up now.

Jody, my partner in love and crime, I started taking her fishing and now she's addicted. You should see her out back, behind our house in the canal popping big ass gar out of it. lol - We take the kayaks to Fishing Eating Creek. Here's this big dyke poking her pole over asking me to bait the hook! lol- Forest you met Jody, lol- can you see her now? Then there's me with my flower pants and big floppy hat. I'll need to take pictures of that shit.

Lee do you have your own boat?

We need a fish fry. It just too damn hot.

Dianne, I had no idea you were family, how wonderful :-))

Yes, I have a boat, 15 foot pleasure craft water ski boat, split bow, 2 benches up front, middle window opens up, 4 bucket seats in back and 85 HP engine.

I would be more than happy to teach you shrimping :-)

We catch the little mangrove snappers up here, and they are yummy, catch them near the shoreline or channel markers.

The snook was very good, and I really like eating the redfish too. Flounder to me as no taste, and I like the sheepshead.

Have pompano and spotted trout in the freezer, never tasted them yet.

The bait stores finally have mud minnows in, and thats what we threw last weekend, i caught a red but he was undersized and a throw back.

I much rather toss finger mullet or little silver pilchards for the mangroves and flounder.....next month the bait fish will be much better.

Damn live shrimp are alot of work :(

Ya need to toss up some pics Dianne!

Family yes in deedie. I thought you knew that.

I had a brand new proline 25 foot, walk around, with bait well, small cutty, stolen out of my yard when I first moved back down to florida, which is my hometown. I didn't even get to de-winterize it or pop it in the water. I'm not going to but another until next year. I'm just too busy. When I do it will be a pontoon boat, at least 30 feet. If you put a big engine on them they'll haul ass and they're great for parties, hanging out, etc.

We have 32 acres between Labelle & Clewiston. We're building a type of "family" resort out here. lol- first phase is a pool with cabanas. Then cabins, horse stables and trail riding. You have to come check it out. It's pretty cool. Lots of us around these parts. Yeehaw.

I have posted pictures before on a link. Just ICQ me 365555 or email vesta@together.net

My favorite is catfish, snook & snapper. Did I say that already? When you were talking about your bait shop I mentioned a fry sauce I make and I wasn't kidding that I wanted to bottle it. It's a secret recipe but if you ever had it on fried fish and green tomatoes, you'd be hooked. <pun?> If we get a fish fry going I'll make a batch. I'd be happy to host a fry out here once it cools down. It's just too damn hot. Then again I think Photogregg has a pool at their new studio. Hmmmm... you could drive down here and we can go together. Jody isn't really into the webmaster stuff.

Do you like to ride horses?

Gotta get back to work.

Yeah, no shit, got to take that gaydar in for servicing. It's not reliable.

No, Dianne I had no idea, but clueless is my niche these days, keeps me in more trubba' :-)

25 ft boat, WOWEE now thats styling at its finest, how wonderful. IN my case a floating piece of plywood would work for this butch, I just love to fish and look at boats as floating piers.

I wish I got into this alot younger but I did not, but at least I can handle this boat myself, and I don't suck as bad backing up the trailer ROFL.

Hell if I did not have a ex-wife that robbed me blind, I would be living on a houseboat somewhere.

I have no problem trading people for fish and planning my life around tide changes :-)) Truly an acquired illness.

Your place sounds wonderful, and I need to come down and visit when your all ready. Who knows might find me "Mrs. Noga", gawd the thought of another relationship scares me.....LOL.

18 years I had with my Diva, next time Im going with another Butch!

Have not rode horses for 25 years, used to do it when I was in the Navy, we would go down to Quantico VA and take the horses out on walkie trails, no heroics.

Jody not being into webmastering is what makes the relationship work!

MikeW your house is awesome! It has to be all fixed and the way you like it by now, huh?

Forest, I will take a dingy over a piece of plywood, some people like myself are not as needy as you, if indeed we are to believe you even "have".
