I'm not sure if it's formally against the law, or merely too close to the edge - I know in the sample/example materials the law firm I worked for strongly advised against it.

yeah it's against the law. the logic is that asking for that information indicates an intent to make a decision based on it. you're also not allowed to ask about disabilities (only whether the applicant has any that can hinder their performance) or whether the person is single or married.

these are actually pretty important things imho. we just hired somebody friday and i knew he was a "he" only because of the name, but i dont know his age or anything about him except for his resume.

if you are still short the $25 bucks somehow, send a support request to one of the people you've insulted and i'll personally cut you a check and make sure to wipe my ass with it before i send it.
