Is this year 2003?

last time i checkd it was

Just saw this story on cnn where White High School students Voted to have a racialy segregated Whites only Prom.

"We aint rasicts...there will be blacks catering the prom..." said 1 of the students who would agree to be interviewed

another had this to say

" this is nothing to do with race...we just wanted a white prom...We are haveing another one for everyone next weeek..."

Is this what we are teaching the children in the south?

http://www.cnn.com/2003/EDUCATION/05/02/se...s.ap/index.html (http://www.cnn.com/2003/EDUCATION/05/02/separate.proms.ap/index.html)

Juniors are charged with planning the prom each year and last year they decided to have just one dance -- the first integrated prom in 31 years in the rural Georgia county 150 miles south of Atlanta.

Until then, parents and students organized separate proms for whites and blacks after school officials stopped sponsoring dances, in part because they wanted to avoid problems arising from interracial dating.

Ok, so they might not be racist (ha!) but they certainly seem like pussies. Not quite sure which is worse...

"We aint rasicts...there will be blacks catering the prom..."

If this fucking moron said that with a straight face, it is proof that liberal educators are wrong - you cannot teach critical thought.

You can spin that from here to the moon and back, and there is no way in hell you're going to convince me that's anything but pure-d cracker racism.

Don't confuse the right to equal employment and the right to vote with the right to attend all privately funded functions. Much like the club in Augusta has a right to admit only those who they choose to.

Whether it's right to teach children that seperatism is good.. well georgia is not california is not new york... how people choose to personally feel or raise their children is their own business.

Most people practice forms of seperatism and teach their children the same.. think about how many white fathers teach their daughters to date black men? Or how many black fathers teach their childrent to date white men? Or how many jews encourage their children to associate with christians, or how many baptists encourage their children to associate with muslims? Most parents dont want their children dating outside their own race or religeon.

Bottom like is we are virtually all seperatists in some way and as long as we are not infringing upon the rights of others and you dont try to force me or mine to believe your way.. then have a great fucking time... white prom, black prom, asian prom, whatever.. people have a right to choose who they spend their free time with.

Where I went to school we had a school-sponsored Prom. There were some folks who elected not to attend, and held their own private parties instead. There was a black one, a white one, one attended by both blacks and whites who considered themselves "blue bloods" (I went to a public school in St. Louis that had a lot of old money in it). And there was a 4th one for the hippies (real hippies, not some retro wanna-be imitation shit) who had a great big blast sans tuxes and formals (and clothes entirely, at some points).

I'll let you speculate on which one I attended. :D

I think that the fact that governmental entities like this school board continue to engage in this kind of gamesmanship to avoid coming into the 1970s is a sad commentary on the people involved. I agree that how people chose to feel "ain't nobody's bidnez but there own" - one of the advantages of living in a free country is that even the ignorant are free to believe what they want.

And there is no regional bias in my attitude - I live in the middle of corn country where Illinois, Missouri, and Iowa meet, and I've heard the N word from white folks more in the two years I've been here than I have in 20 years. We recently had a school consolidation come up and one of the quiet arguements for it was to keep the local kids from going to school with "them" from the nearby "city" - (the nearby city has a population of 17,000, with maybe 5% of that split between black, hispanic, and other minorities).

I taught my girls to date good people, and I taught them that deciding someone was good or bad because of the color of their skin, their religion, how much money they had, or where they came from was ignorant. I was more than a little suprised by my own attitudes when they "took me up on it." I didn't unlearn my own father's lessons quite as thoroughly as I thought I had - but I got over it.

What an outrage. Something has to be done about that.

Here's something else racist I've seen lately:

A commercial on TV about cigarrette related death. It has a white kid on it telling about cigarrettes killing white people, and then on the screen it says that cigarrettes kill 25,000 (can't remember the actual number) white people every year!! What an outrage, like only white people's lives matter!!!

Have you guys seen that commercial?
